Did Marvin Hagler go out for the 1972 Olympics?

Hagler as an amature won a National AAU 165 lb. championship tournament beating a guy named Terry Dobbs in 1973, but prior to that I think Marvin had other issues deal with besides boxing. I don't recall any Olympic trials envolving Hagler in the early seventies.
