I was wondering should I pack an iron, or are they available in the staterooms? Also, are the electrical plugs made for American appliances? It is a Carnival Cruise. Thanks.

Unlike hotel rooms, there are no irons or ironing boards in staterooms. On some large cruise ships, such as the Grand Princess, there is a self-service laundry room with coin-operated washers and dryers and free use of irons and ironing boards (in that room). On many other cruise ships, there are no such facilities.

The bottom line is, pack your own iron. Even if you had to go out to Target or Wal-Mart and buy a light-weight traveling iron, it'll be well worth it. You'll need some touching up work for sure, especially for formal nights.

All cruise ships that sailed from U.S. ports, regardless of their countries of origins, are equipped with electrical plugs that accept appliances sold and used in America. Do not worry about that.

It depends upon which cruise line and also which ship. Many cruise lines do not have a laundry or irons available. They do offer laundry service for a fee, including pressing. If you do take your iron, do not leave it out as the crew will probably tell you that its illegal to have it as they are concerned about fires started by people being careless. So take it, use it when you first unpack, and then cool it down and put it away.

If you want to be sure, go to the web site for your cruise line and click on services and look at the frequently asked questions.

The latest Carnival cruise I went on had irons in a laundry room down the hall. It was crowded and hot in there. If I were you, I would call the line, ask what they do for your particular ship, and then plan accordinly. And yes, the plugs are all designed for American appliances on Carnival ships.

Normally on most boats there are irons eathier in your room or in a laundry mat on the boat that is open for you to use. There outlets are made for american appliances but most of the standard carnival rooms only have 2 or 3 sockets so i would highly recommend that u bring one of those socket extention things that have more sockets so you can have multiple plugs. Have a fun cruise
