Rape is a pretty serious crime. But why treat them any different for committing rape as oppose to murder, armed robbery, arsen, or any other crime?
I can see those inmates wanting to be macho and thinking it could have been their mother or sister or daughter that was raped...but it could have very easily been their mother, sister, or daughter that was shot to death, murdered, or pistol whipped for $20 bucks.

Well, I don't think that the guy who killed an innocent woman or girl would have an easy time in there, either. Call it chivalry. But rape is especially distasteful. It's almost as bad as molesting a child. It's inflicting sexual harm on someone who is defenseless. Even a murderer would find the act despicable. All sex offenders are looked down upon. Lucky for them, most places have a yard just for them, now.
Besides, realistically, what are the other inmates gonna do to those who've already proven their willingness and ability to kill?

Because rape is the most henious of crimes. Rape is about power, murder is usually abotu vengence. If someone (most times males) want power over someone they are going to choose a woman and they are then going to show their power over that woman by raping her. Most times then not that rape is going to be followed by murder, stirred in with a dash of robbery as well depending on the perp. So there is a double or triple wammy...Many inmates in a prison are also worse to child molesters/rapists as well....

Its the whole thing "honor among thieves". Same reason why they don't snitch on someone. Yes, prisoners are in there b/c they have done something bad, but raping a three year old or an old woman that can not defend themselves is against even their ethics. Its just their code of ethics. Definitely different the society that's why they are were they are and we are on Yahoo.

Prison society has a pecking order. Each person fits on some level.
They believe pedophiles to be the lowest, followed by other rapist and onward up the scale.

Actually, it is the child molesters (only a portion of the rapists) that are given a hard time in jail. Nobody respects a person who forces sex on a child, not even the lowest of the low in our society.

because they are in their for killing someone and they have family's and the rapist probably raped a child when most of the inmates probably have children and they think it affects them
