once my stomach was really screwed up so i took 2 tea spoons of bepto bismol.. this is gonna be digusting but why did i vomit?

Its pepto bismal. Okay, I'm going to assume that you have heard the challenge that nobody can drink a gallon of milk in an hour without throwing up. Its true, this is because it is a buffer solution. This is true for Pepto Bismal as well. The fluid in your stomach, HCl, is an acid. Buffers neutralize acidity. When too much of a buffer is introduced with the acid it becomes basic. Your stomach needs to have a certain pH level of acid to function correctly. If this pH level is disturbed too much, your body will reject it, hence the vomiting. Hope this helps.

Wait...so you threw up after you took the Pepto? I used to get really sick to my stomach a lot and have to throw up in the middle of the night, and usually pepto is the only thing that'll help but one time I took it twice and vomited it back up. I think this is due to intense stomach irritation and the stomach's need to get rid of its contents so it can eradicate whatever is causing the problem, even if it isn't pepto.

Your stomach probably just couldn't handle the stuff at the time. I've had that happen to me once; I had taken it for a stomach ache and it made me vomit. Every other time I've taken it I haven't felt nauseous.

pepto contains sulfa compounds, so if you are allergic to sulfa you are allergic to pepto. It makes me vomit too.
