the Earth is heating up, but it isnt because of CO2 emissions by humans.
the sun is burning brighter, with more sun spots, and we are emerging from a mini ice age.

the worlds temperature fluctuates throughout history, they used to grow vines in scotland.
most of the earths CO2 comes from the sea and volcanoes and biological processes.

religion has been declining (especially protestantism) in the west, places where man made global warming is most accepted, europe.
throughout history and culture man has needed an 'end of days' prophecy. Ie armageddon, volcano gods to sacrifice to, the atomic bomb. man feels guilty, needs something in his life.
the newspapers love to scaremonger
the gouvernment benefit from carbon taxes
so you carbon offset? or do you attone for your sins against the Earth God? hoping that he will not smite us all?

are people who dont believe in global warming, heathens who reject the prophets (scientists)?

global warming is caused by the sun, co2 actually makes things colder.
check the facts, the temperature fell for forty years after the war, and the global heat rise began 500 years before the industrial revolution

No I think people who don't believe in global warming are naysayers burying their heads in the sand. You make a spurious point when you say that most of the CO2 comes from natural processes. It's the additional CO2 that is the crucial tipping point factor here.
I respect reason and scientific understanding. You haven't presented a reasonable argument, just what seems a paranoid rant to me.

Take this B-S for example, you cite...

"The amount of warming from 1881 to 1993 is 0.54 C. Nearly 70 percent of the warming of the entire time period — 0.37 C —occurred in the first half of the record — before the period of the greatest buildup of greenhouse gases.

Accuracy in land-based measurements of global temperatures is frustrated by the dearth of stations, frequent station relocations, and changes in how ocean-going ships make measurements."

The second statement sheds doubt on the validity of the claims of the first statement!!

I'm willing to listen to proper arguments but the ones you've cited are low quality.

The theory of man-made global warming is all based on science, not religion. No scientist who claims that human activities, mainly burning of fossil fuels, are causing global warming, ever asks anyone to accept that theory on faith. You should read some of the scientific reports, which are based entirely on climate studies, measurements of CO2 emissions, and computer projections, etc. There are no reputable scientific papers suggesting that the warming which has been measured, is all caused by sunspots, or the other natural causes you mention.

Interesting parallels between this movement and religion - particularly with how closely terra-passes reflect the old Indulgences of the middle ages.

Anyway, I have a feeling you'd get a hoot out of this:

http://www.glennbeck.com/steakoutourfuture/

Apparently, according to a UN study, the production of animals for food produce more greenhouse gases than all the cars and the trucks in the world combine...so according to pita, if you're going to be on the global warming wagon, you better be a vegan

...hmmm, I wonder how many people here telling you you're wrong are vegan.

(before even hitting my preview button, I know I'm going to be getting lots of thumbs down for this - oh well).

And let me guess.. all of your scientific knowledge comes from this website. Considering what actual global warming experts have ALL been saying lately, sticking your head in a website and playing cut and paste to make you look like you know what you're talking about isn't going to cut it.
The word is out and it's time we started doing something to reduce the effects before the earth does what it takes to right herself. Or, you can keep on spouting this stuff off until you're buried in snow or water... your choice.

I simply do not understand why people deny this. It is like the debate on evolution. You are saying, "Hey, wait, this scientist says global warming is not real, and I do not care that 99% of the rest of the scientific community says it is real"! Do you understand how ridiculous that sounds?
Just because you can name a handful of scientists that do not believe global warming is man made, that does not mean that they are right. For every ONE that you can find denying global warming, I can find FIFTY that say it is happening, and we are the cause of it.

I'm afraid it's more real than you can imagine and pointless debate is STILL wasting time in which you could be spending trying to figure out how to conduct your life more mindfully anyway, whether you believe in this now or not. What's the harm in making mindful earth-friendly purchases, and being a conscious consumer with respect to the environment and other abuses?

Ditch the debate, just do something.

I am glad to find someone who knows all about theses things and can explain so clearly dear, So that even a dolt could understand what nonsense it really is. These people have had me in so much anxiety about global warming for so long now My entire body is just in a nervous wreck. You are such a blessing. I think I will get my first nights rest in ages now. Thank you.

And your question is????

Here's the deal kid. Global warming doesn't matter.

We need to explore alternative energy and reduce pollution anyway. We need to reduce our dependence on foreign oil, and reduce the pollution that's damaging our immune systems and the environment's health.

It's sort of a Pascal's Gambit. Doing what's smart for us socially and environmentally will benefit us if Global Warming is real, but will STILL benefit us tremendously if it isn't.

Yeah, I mean, they proved Global Warming exists, mainly because of us.

They looked into the cyclic thing, and it's true, but we're making it tons worse.

How can you not believe in something that's proven? Like, not believing in cheese or something like that. It makes people sound stupid.
