My girlfriend’s problem with bulimia really gets her down. She is often depressed which makes her cold and distant toward me. She is ashamed of being bulimic, and she is ashamed of feeling depressed. So, she often tries to pretend that everything is fine; she tries to pretend that she is happy. But, I can always tell that something is wrong. When I try to talk to her about it she laughs at me and tells me that I am imagining things. Otherwise, she is very good to me. She is beautiful and always puts me first. I have stood by her for several years, but nothing is improving. I feel lonely around her. I never know what she is really feeling inside. I have told her that she needs professional help, but she thinks that she can handle this on her own. She has a lot of issues from her past that she refuses to deal with. She tries to convince herself that she had a perfect childhood. I wonder if I could have a better relationship with someone who is healthy. Should I leave?

There is no way she can handle this on her own. Without professional help it will get worse. She is endangering her health. If she won't get help, leave. You are enabling her to avoid getting the help she needs.

Do you really really like her? Because leaving her would make everything worse, she really needs you right now. If you really like her than stay with her and talk to her family or get help. Don't leave her!

P.S- If she keeps us the bulimia she will have a lot of health problems! Like strokes, fainting, dry skin, teeth can rot, and much more! She won't be beautiful for long if she keeps that up.

That is a hard one. The best thing you can do for someone you love is to help them. Tell her how you feel. Let her know you are thinking about leaving if she doesn't get help. If she does agree to get help you have to be ready to stand by her side and really be there for her. It will probably not be easy but if you have been together for years and you love each other I don't see why you shouldn't try an ultimatum before you just leave her..

Maybe you can go to a website that has information on eating disorders (www.somethingfishy.com) and print out some of the info and sit down with her and read it together. Hopefully it will force her out of denial..like they say, admitting you have a problem is the first step.

you should talk to her first and if she doesn't listen break up with her you don't have time for drama but if you really like then you should probaly tell her parents about this so that she can get help or she can die from this but be supportive as hard as you can

if its getting you down and u feel u dont need this drama, then u should leave.

if you feel u love her and want to be with her no matter what, then u should stay.

btw if you leave, she is likely to get a lot worse, but dont feel too guilty, its not your fault, right?
