gnostics?

Yeshua Ben Yosef

It is most proper to call Him Yeshua. It was indeed his proper name, given to him by his parents, and only in Hebrew does this name have any meaning. In Hebrew Yeshua means both "Salvation," and the concatenated form of Yahoshua, is "Lord who is Salvation." The name Jesus has no intrinsic meaning in English whatsoever.

the New Testament and Christian Gnostic texts portray Jesus as an elder brother who teaches what all the great teachers of the mystical paths of the world's religions teach: that you can attain your own intimate and transforming relationship with God and that you can realize your potential to become a Son of God, one with the Christ.

No they were not. You can find His teaching in the Gospels. And anti gnostic teaching in the epistles of John.
Jesus' name was Jesus, which is the same as Joshua. He was also given the name Immanuel - unless it was meant as a descriptive term. (I have two names myself).
His true mission was to die for our sins.

No, the Gnostic gospels were written about a century after the New Testament. The Gnostics believed that secret knowledge or 'gnosis' was the true path to salvation. They were quickly rejected by the Christian leadership. One of their stranger teachings was that women must become 'male' to reach salvation. It was very anti-female which goes against the teachings of Jesus and the Apostles who treated women as equals in salvation.

Jesus name in Jewish was Yeshua. He has many names that describe his attributes as well. Lamb of God, Emmanuel, Prince of Peace, Lion of Judah, Son of David, Son of Man, etc.

Jesus' true mission was to restore mankind to God. He was our sacrificail Lamb for all time.

the gnostics (hidden knowledge) became gnostic to undermine the apostles. The apostles claimed the right to speek for Jesus becasue they saw Him last. So gnostice started "seeing Him" so they could make themselves greater than the apostles.

People do the same today when they claim visions that undermine the writings of living or decesed apostles.

I believe they were Gnostics. Jesus spoke of enlightenment, according to the Gospel of Mary Magdalen. The second coming was not an apocalyptic event it was about obtaining knowledge.

I think they were Jewish, but I here that Jesus could have been influenced by the Gnostic's. I really can't answer the other questions. In fact I shouldn't have even tried to answer this one.

They were Jewish, and Jesus' real mission was to be a slightly unhinged rabbi. This pissed the Romans off so they executed him for crimes against the state.
