I was at the Menil Collection (a museum in Houston, TX) last week, and stumbled upon a spectacular piece by Magritte.

In the center of the oil-on-canvas painting is an old-style shotgun, leaning against a wooden wall. The shotgun is covered in splatter of blood. The pattern of the splatter is that which one would expect to appear on the victim, not the gun.

Absolutely brilliant...

It was titled "Survival", by Rene Magritte.

The problem is, I CANNOT find any image or mentioning of it online... Seems as if it doesn't exist!

You'll find this site that sells posters of painters from all over the world really interesting. All the matterial is copyrighted, indeed, and if you want to have the poster of one of the painters enlisted there hanging on your living room wall it'd be needed buy some that you like. But it is completelly free to go wandering about in the site and click on the works that interest you most (there is an enlarged view of every work on this site)
Front page, find the right blanket there and type the name Magritte there. You'll instantly find more than 15 rows of his talented work displayed, and will be able to appreciate in the privacy of your home more than 50 of his paintings, with no expense requied from you, at all. (unless you really feel the uncontrollable wish of buying one of the posters they sell) Magritte is not the only one painter displayed at the site, and you can imagine that you're allowed to make as many searches and to get to see the work of as many artists as you may wish to. (in smaller sizes or enlarged view - what is really fair and considerate) That's an amazing site to visit and don't lose it. Tell me whether you liked it or not, if you can. Following, here is the address: http://www.allposters.com/
Good amusement,
Best regards.

The reason that you can´t find the image, may be the following:
I visited : www. magritte.com and about "The Survival" appears :

"Our contract with the "Succession Magritte", which has allowed us to reproduce images of René Magritte's work, has expired. We are sorry, but we are currently not authorized to reproduce his work."and for more information : magritte@virtuo.be.
Good Luck!!
