I am getting married in six months. We are paying for everything ourselves so we want the cheapest route possible. I am wanting to make my invitations from the computer, does anyone have any ideas or web pages for a homemade wedding invitation?

You could also just open up a WORD document and go onto Microsoft office's template website. Type in what you are looking for in their search, such as "Wedding Invitations" and browse through the printable patterns.

I also knew of someone who just went to an office shop like Staples, and got "pretty" stationary. They printed their invitations out on that, and just had everyone RSVP through email.

What I am doing for my wedding is making postcards.....overnightprints.com has many postcards to choose from. I think it is only $20-30 for a box of 100 of them. And I will have people RSVP through email or phone. It is a neat and different idea from the regular invitations.

If you are looking for something homemade though, I would stick to Microsofts website....

Once when I was in Office max and Staples I saw they had wedding invitation kits and they were very inexpensive. They sometimes come with computor programs to make it simple, or explain in detail how to do it with a program you already use! I did invitations in about 2 days for a quincenera and they turned out really beautiful. Word of advice just have fun and let your imagination fly! We used ribbons to make bows and used a hole punch so we would have someplace to stick the ribbon. For a wedding maybe a thin white ribbon with a simple bow since they will most inevitably be gong throught the post. Good luck, Im right behind you! I was just asked THE BIG QUESTION a few nights ago, so you're much further so far!

I made my own invitations with my home printer. All you have to do is browse some cards on line, so that you can get the exact phrase you want and some idea of what you want the card to look like. Go to Micheals or a craft store near you and buy the card stock, there are tons to choose from and you can always use coupons. Then use your computer to create a card. * do a test run print on plain paper so you don't waste the pretty card paper.

If you have a Microsopft Office Publisher, you can make them yourself. Or you might want to go to a store like Best Buy and spend $40. to buy a program like Art Explosion Publisher Pro. It's great for begginer and it offers a lot of design options once you know how to use it.

This about buying some nice card stock and even adding a little detial after you print them out using a mettalic pen. You can add some silver or gold ink and if you ar an artist or you have a friend who can draw, buy them dinner and have them come over and add a little "something" to each invitation.

Go to Staples or Staples.com and purchase good quality blank invitation paper in packages. Then get a CD that will allow you to print wedding invitations or if your printer is capable of doing it, you can go into Word Perfect and pick a print type and center it, doing bold writing, type out what you want, and then print out each invitation individually on your printer. For wordings, I would go on line and do a search for "Wordings for wedding invitations", or go to a party paper store and look at their wedding invitation books and get some ideas of wording you can use. Another idea is to hire a person who does calligraphy and have her hand write in calligraphy all your blank invitations. It will cost you a little, but it is a nice touch. Another idea, check out wedding invitations on line, doing a search "wedding invitations". I have been hearing that they are very inexpensive and if you don't want raised writing, you could get it very cheap. Check that out too.

this is what i'm doing, i'm using adobe photoshop, but you can use MS word as well: find a picture you like online (ask the artist, if it is not a stock image. i'm actually drawing my own, you could ask a friend/family member to draw it for you, but you'll need to scan it to the computer) and use that as a header image for the invite. then transfer it to your page. find a nice font and nice font colour, then type your invite! it's pretty simple, i'm going to try to print mine out on either parchment paper or on homemade paper, because homemade paper has a nice texture. if you make your invties this way, they will be trifold, or fold in half, deppending on the size of the image.

also, craft stores sell invitation kits, with the paper and decorations, all you do is type and print them out. you can get these for about $20 for 50 invites at places like JoAnn Fabrics or AC Moore.

Good luck!!

I know that you can get several templates at stores like Office Depot and even Wal Mart. I have a friend who bought hers at Office Depot and used a computer program to fix hers like she wanted. I am not sure if there is a specific site that will let you do this for free, but you could always google it to see. I believe you can even use your microsoft program on your computer. I am on the new Windows Vista and there is a special section in my microsoft processor that allows me to create invitations. If I were you I would use just some simple, yet elegant print. You do not want them to look tacky. Congratulations on your wedding and good luck! :)

We did this...
I went on a-wedding day.com and found a gerber daisy "bulletin" ... It folded in half like a card.On the front was a pic of gerber daisies w/ "We Do" written on the bottom. We then took some card stock in a peach color and printed up our wedding info..secured that inside along w/ the directions and response cards and placed in an envelope that I got at paperdirect.com

Good luck to you!!! You will save so much money!! We have over 315 invites going out, and if we didn't do it ourselves, we would have had to spend a ton of money!!

Oh, I got the "bulletin" for $15 for 100 of them...

The BEST way to get ideas is to go to your local scrapbook store. They will have classes and ideas out the wazoo--and usually you can work at their shop.

With 6 months to go, you don't have much time to work with. I would do something as quick as possible. Did you send out a save the date anything (magnet, letter, email)? If not, you NEED to make this a quick turn around.

Try something like this:

Take a piece of card stock and print a picture of you and your fiance. With a piece of vellum, print the information. You can make it any size you want and attach it with a cute little bracket (available at your scrapbook store for like $2 for 200).

Both vellum and card stock can be put through the printer AND cut to size. Just grab your friends and have some fun!

Go to a Staples or a Office Depot and start looking at paper.. they have all kinds of colors and designs... once you have colors or theme picked out ideas will start popping into your head. Look at craft stores for all kinds of little goodies you can put on your cards..... there are even some really cute cake toppers out there. If you like a Western theme you can find little cowboy boots and hats and things to use.(just for example) have fun and good luck.
