cats have a special skeletal system which allows them to twist their torso and land on their feet.
If the cat begins to throw up, act weird, or seems in pain when you pet him, TAKE HIM TO A VET IMMEDIATELY.
If he in bleeding internally it needs to be addressed with no time to spare, but it sounds like he will probably be O.K.
I'm proud of how much you care about your cat :]

If he landed on his feet from that short a drop he probably wasn't injured in the slightest. When I read the leader to the question I was afraid you were going to say the cat had been dropped from a roof or the window of a tall building.

At 9 1/2 weeks, it's not a kitten, it's a cat. You could drop it 10 feet and it would be fine. Not that you should intentionally drop him from that height, as that would be considered animal cruelty.
You should THROW him from that height, then it would be considered a neat trick or comedy. LOL just joking. I'm a dog guy.

Your kitty is fine and I'm sure you know that by now. I'm just happy that you care so much. I'm sure your friend didn't mean to do anything wrong. Remember to keep an eye on people when they are interacting with your cat or any other prized possessions. No one will ever be as gentle or care as much for your animals as you do.

Probably.
Just keep an eye on the kitten and make sure it's not limping or anything unusual. Then, kindly tell your friend to be careful in the future.
Good luck!

my cat is also nine months! and pregnant. I could drop my cat from my head and she would be fine. I've let her go from my hands at chest level and she has never been hurt. Cats have a hard time getting hurt when falling. I wouldn't worry.
