Not only is that proposition false, but people forgot to mention - earth's terrestrial biosphere (the life on land) tends to die-off during ice-ages (trees lose leaves, other plants and animals die). The most likely way for the terrestrial biosphere to actually store more water in cold weather is probably for new species to evolve which grow better in cold weather. Since the 100's of millions of years of plant fossil evidence don't show such a thing happening in the past, I think it's unlikely to happen in the future (I have no way to prove it, though!). Another idea - what if the *marine* biosphere retained more water? Crazy? But what if? If the biosphere in the water retained more water during cold weather, it would cause sea levels to RISE unless that water went somewhere else (ice caps, glaciers, lakes, even water vapor?). [The sea level would rise since the fatter or more numerous creatures push aside the existing water.] Curious ideas. Highly, HIGHLY, unlikely, but my point is that you can't make blanket statements and expect to be 100% correct.

Totally false. During the last major ice age the ocean levels declined. That is a geological fact. I had learned that when I took Geology in college. It is during the Earth's warming cycle that the oceans rise.

false. During an ice age, ocean levels are lower because more of the water is locked up on land in the form of ice.

Direct proof that sea levels fall can be found in limestone caverns now under water. These caves contain stalactites and stalagmites, which can't form except in air. Some of these caves are now several hundred feet below the ocean surface.
