Walking has got to be the easiest way to trim off the fat. Walk quickly, build up a sweat, get your heartrate up. The link below is a very cool site, the activity calculator is awesome it tells you how many calories are burned for like 200 different activities for any amount of time you enter , activities include housework, walking, jogging , rowing, coal mining, sitting in your ofice, bicycling, dancing, painting, gardening, child care, ironing, firefighting, sitting in class and many many more. Target training your abdominals won't be nearly as effective as a brisk walk everyday, with crunches and leg raises you will certainly tone your abs but you still wont see them because they will still be covered in fat. Walk walk walk its much easier than crunches or leg raises, when you trim the fat off then you can target train to tone them up(but I bet you wont need to). Please trust me on this. You wont need to walk many many miles, I live on an old radar base (pine tree line) and it takes me 16 minutes to do 1 lap around it. I sacrificed some TV time at night to get rest so I can get up earlier in the morning(6am) and go for 1 or 2 laps before breakfast(gonna make a commitment to do 4 laps in less than an hour every day) I have 2 kids whom I spend alot of time with so I have to "sacrifice" my own time at night to "invest" in my own health and longevity. I lost 20 pounds in 35 days.

If you aren't also watching your calorie intake, there is no telling how long it would take to lose weight just by walking.
Suggest 1000, to 1200 calories a day and walking, slowly at first for 15 to 20 minutes every day, and slowly building up. You should drop 2 to 3 pounds a week, which means it will take from 11 to 16 weeks.

Walking at a semi-brisk 3 miles per hour you burn approximately 100 - 120 calories per mile. There are about 3500 Calories in a pound of body tissue. Therefore, you would need to walk about 1000 - 1050 miles to lose 33 pounds.
That's assuming you don't increase your food intake with all that exercise.

These are all rough estimates. And remember, all the genuine experts, excluding the quacks and hucksters, recommend exercise AND diet.

It depends on the fitness level you are at NOW.
If you have a heart rate monitor on your treadmill, use it, you want to get up to your "target heart rate level" (based on your age, weight, etc), that's where weight loss kicks in.

I like to do a warm up of 2 mph for 15 min, then 3.5 miles for 1/2 hour, then 4 mph for 20 min, then another cool down for 10 min, gradually decreasing the mph until I'm barely moving.

Its going to take some time, but you need to walk atleast 2.5 miles at a 3.3 MPH pace atleast 5 times a week.

A big key is also your diet. Make sure you are eating right or else you will not lose the weight.

That really depends on your body right now.

Are you tall, average or short?

Are you thin, average, overweight, or obese?

How old are you?

Well, since I don't know those I really can't help you that much but...I'd guess walk at about three miles an hour for an hour or two every other day, and on the off days I would walk at a mile and a half an hour for thirty minutes to an hour.

1 pound of bodyweight equals about 3,500 calories.

Walk at least 20 minutes at a time in your target heart rate 3 times per week and gradually decrease your caloric intake until you see a weight loss of about a pound per week.

As you lose weight you might need to increase the intensity and/or duration of your workouts to keep the same rate of weight loss because (1) you will ge tmore efficient at walking and (2) as you lose weight you are actually doing less work.

Good luck.

Weight loss will depend on how much you weigh now and how many calories you eat each day. There is no way to give you an answer for this.

in a study made in early may 2005 researchers found that walking and running really thoes not make a diffrence. because they found that runners get more tired and are more likely to stop for a break than walkers. and walkers are likely to workout for longer and burn more fat because they walk for longer as a result of the less energy they use to walk.so i sudjest u walk calm at a good moderate paste for a longer time. ; )
