I had mono before and the only symptom i had was i was waaayy more tired than usual. I went to the doctor to see why i was so tired and they tested me and said i had mono. (i remember that day very well because i almost passed out while they drew my blood *it was my first time*) The doctor tol me it usually lasted for about a year, but that i could pass it to someone else, but that i couldn't get it again. It's been a few years since i had it, and i haven't passed it on to anyone else, so i don't think it last forever

mono is a viral infection, that leaves antibodies(that your body creates) in your system once the infection is dealt with. The test for mono does not detect the virus itself, it detects the antibodies. you will always test positive for mono, but never become infected again, as the antibodies will destroy any further attempt by that or any similar virus to infect.

Yes, you do carry it forever. It can recur - I've had it twice.
