I was planning on having : chicken, beef, shrimp, onion, mushroom, zucchini. What other ideas are there? And do you serve anything along with it? Like bread or anything? Thanks!

When I've had cheese fondue the dipping foods have been broccoli, mini carots, mushrooms, chunks of sourdough bread, and some other bread that was sliced and very firm, like a french roll that was stale or something.

I haven't done any meats in a cheese fondue .. yet ..

Chocolate fondue is good with banana sections. I forget what else we dipped. We have a melting pot for the cheese and a fountain for the chocolate. Haven't done it in a while.

I wouldn't include the onion, and I wouldn't add garlic to the pot. It's a great idea because it's interactive, but beware of ingredients that cause bad breath!
Bread's a good idea. Are you having a broth or cheese fondue? Many of these have wine in them.
Are you doing a dessert fondue?

Sounds good, but what kind fondue is it - in oil or broth? Both are good but the broth is healthier and easier to clean up after.
For either kind you need to have some dipping sauces, usually 3 or 4 kinds like green goddess, aioli, honey mustard, BBQ, bearnaise, etc. I always serve boiled potatoes with it, and I usually have fresh bread & a salad.
Oh, green or red peppers are good in the fondue too!

CHEESE FONDUE

1 cup soft bread crumbs
1 cup milk
1/4 cup butter
2 eggs
salt and pepper
grated cheese to suit taste

Cook bread crumbs in milk until smooth. Add butter, cheese, salt and pepper. Cook one minute longer and remove from heat. Beat yolks of eggs and add to mixture. Fold in the stiffly beaten whites. Pour in buttered mold and bake 20 to 30 minutes.

Fish or ham may be substituted for the cheese.

Chocolate fondue with fresh fruit and angel food cake. Add some nice champagne and you're set!
