I can't speak for teenagers, but I think it depends on the teenagers and how older people around them appear and behave.
Let's face it, there are people who act and appear younger at forty than some do at thirty.
If the young are exposed only to old acting people of thirty, then they will probably think that anyone near thirty is middle age.
My mum socialised me to think that fifty or sixty was middle age. Elderly at seventy or more. A shame all people do not think to educate the young that way.

When I was 15 I thought that being over 25 meant being over the hill....when I became 25 I thought that 40 was waaaaay gone & far too old for having sex....now I'm 51 & I realise that actually life doesn't stop at 40...it certainly doesn't stop at 50 & I know it won't be stopping even at 70 although I have to admit 70 seems sooooo old right now & cannot imagine any over that age even thinking about sex....lol....yes I'd be described as middle aged.....but that's not how I see myself....now I understand that age is relative, it means whatever it does according to whatever age we are....despite what others think.....It's all crazy really because we're "older" for a lot longer than we're "younger"
I'm so glad I was wrong in the way I believed things to change at certain ages....hell, I got to this age so fast, if it had gone how I thought it would when I was a teenager my life [including sex] would be waaaaaay over by now......I'm so glad it's not.......
Youth [so they say] is wasted on the young.......

i'm 23 and when i was about 16, middle aged would be about 40, but now i've hit 23 and seen my parents just hit 63 (dad) and 55 (mum) and have seen how young they still are, id say middl ages was about 50. 50 is no age atall really, when you're a teenager it seems ancient, especially these days when parents juts keep getting younger (im a young mum myself)
So yeah, 35 is still so young ...definatly not middle aged
like they say, life begins at 40!

Anyone over 25. You must have been liberal in your thinking. Teenagers don't change, it is only once you reach that dreaded 25-30 age group that you realise there is still a life to be led, although completely different from your original ideas as a teenager.

Wow! Thanks for the compliment to the person who answered first. I am 15 and I think 40 is middle age but I also believe that it has to do with where a person is from and their culture. Just because people disagree with you does not mean they are idiots. I do think 35 is pretty old but that is for me because I cannot see myself as a grown up. I know it isn't old though, many people get married in their 30's or do many adventurous things. But for me, 40 is middle age.

well, from my experience, it seems to be that anyone over the age of 25 seems to be classed as 'old' in the eyes of most teenagers, however, it seems that as u get older, your perceptions of middle age and old age change ! i guess that's human nature - we don't want to admit to ourselves that we are no longer young.....

Teenagers are idiots, they think that middle age is 25, and that 30 is old. Glad I don't base my life on their asinine opinions.
