Because the government keep closing down hospitals or centres where these people work. I was in a day hospital receiving CBT and they closed it down, sent all the patients either home or elsewhere but not getting CBT anymore. It's a disgrace. There are plenty of therapists out there, but no longer available on the NHS.
If your in the UK you could always phone "Mind" for free therapy.

The waiting lists vary from PCT to PCT, unfortunately. Where I live it is 6 - 9 months.

If you are on a very low income the following website may be useful.
http://www.counselling.ltd.uk/

They have a database of counsellors who will offer free counselling to those on certain benefits. You simply need to ring them and ask them to help you.

This organisation also offers a sliding scale of fees based on income so they may be able to help if you do not receive the benefits listed for CCC.

There are also a number of forums on the internet for those who suffer from depression, with or without self harming.
these are just a couple from a search engine

"They" (whoever they are) are working on developing cbt computer programs, and the little bit I've read on them says they are effective. see if you can find anything on that online, maybe they are available and not too $$$$. Good luck!

Probably because the government are putting all the money into their own pockets, or building things and over spending on things we dont really need.
