Police think they can get away with it these days, but I think they'll lose this one. And I'm ashamed to say they come from Sheffield, my home town.
And Frisky's gonna side with them obviously.!!!!

You seem to be one of so many deluded people on these forums complaing about Police brutality and abuse of powers yet you clearly know none of the facts. All you've seen is fuzzy CCTV footage presented to you by a cynical media ready to manipulate and brainwash you against such high ideals such as civic responsibility, respect for the law, duty of care, etc, etc. How do you know the Officer was using excessive force? I mean if the first punch was so strong, so hard and so painful don't you think she would have let go after the first strike? And, what if I grabbed you by the bollocks and squeezed really hard, would you just stand there until I decide to let go? I don't think so. Don't be so quick to judge about things you know nothing off. Clearly if it took five strikes to get her to release her grip it wasn't force enough force to make her let go after the first hit. So who was showing restraint? So applying your standards shouldn't Toni Cromer be prosecuted for Assault on Police? You make her out to be some modern day Robin Hood but she is no angel and shown that she has a much class as school on Saturdays, ie: none! And no, she doesn't remember the incident because she is epileptic, she can't recall anything because of all the alcohol she consumed!
People like you make me sick. Police Officers put their lives on the line daily because they want to better their communities, yes they are members of the public also, and all you can do is sit back and judge and say from the comfort of your living room how the police should react to violent situations. What do you do to improve society with your high and mighty ideals?

Every time I read this question the number of blows increase.Yesterday this question was asked time and time again and happily the vast majority backed the police. This girl was uninjured, the police officer was using Home Office method of subduing her as a result no one was injured .No doubt if she had put out the officers eye this story wouldn't have got a one minute mention in the media.Unless he was black and she white of course.
Also the prisoner said she MAY have had a seizure not that she did she was obviously too drunk to know.

the girl very likely had it coming to her the police are not to know she is epileptic and probably was protecting himself the coppers are only human and take so much abuse and beatings it is no wonder sometimes they lash out the girl is just on the bum and wants a quick buck i hope to god she don t get a bean
could i also add as an epileptic myself maybe if she was not drinking so heavily her fits may be a dam sight more controlled she deserves what she gets she is knowingly putting her self at risk and costing hospitols loads of money

Its only shocking if the girl was not yanking on the PC's scrotum or something just as painful (or life threatening). She ran up the steps only a few seconds before being apprehended. No sign of a seizure there!
It may be she has epilepsy, it may also be that the Copper was punching her for no reason at all.
WE cannot judge the situation at all, it is nothing like the Rodney King beating where he was clearly laying on the ground while several police kicked him.

The woman (grown woman, not girl) had been drinking heavily, thrown out of the nightclub for violent behaviour, was caught vandalising a car and when apprehended was extremely violent towards the officers. The officer concerned used entirely reasonable force to subdue a dangerous woman. She was uninjured as a result of this restraint.
Someone has, months later, come across the CCTV, seen it looks spectacular and spotted the pound signs in front of them.
I say thank you to our police officers who are attacked and abused by low-life scum like this woman every day while doing their duty and who exercise great restraint in dealing with them.

I think the police officer was correct. Don't believe all the footage the media keep plastering about it.
You've forgotton to add that the girl was also drunk, lashing out and attempting to bite the officer...not to mention that she had already bashed a car.
Epileptic fit or not....the girl shouldn't go out in that state if she has a health problem she can't control.
From what I saw...she just seemed like a little (well big) madam trouble maker!
I think the police should punch drunk idiots more often!

Why all the hysteria over a minor incident. The officer had to control the situation, he didn't know she was epileptic. A ruse she is using. I have never known an epileptic vandalise cars in 30 years nursing them.
To all you screaming that the officer should be sacked, just think, who will you call on when you need help......

An examination of the footage clearly shows that the officer delivers a series of bottom fist strikes, twisting his body so as to strike nerve clusters in her left shoulder or arm - not her face. This is because she would not stop resisting and/or would not let go of the officers. She is on the cadge...I hope she doesn't get a bean.
Later...Hiya FUNKY MUNKY(see later comment) :-)
Yeah - I'm going to side with them (the police) - but not for any other reason than I've done the training and I know what I'm seeing. If the officer had stamped on her face then I'd be in the other camp.
Have a nice day!

The police are not purfect but have a job to do, they should fight crime at all levels, but they seem to be heavy handed at times. This action was uncalled for, Myself I think the only thing that they worry about are inforcing fines. While I think they are sometimes to blame , the system does not work and the only people to blame are the do gooders ( the Govenment ). And when I say govenment that means whoever is in power, because they have lost it , if they ever had it to start with

Thats all a load of crap, she's just after some money, the second she found out it was on cctv they went running to the media, she'd just been slung out of a nightclub for assaulting someone. That copper should have used the telescopic metal truncheon that they carry these days - once would have been enough - pow - lights out, game over.
