Okay i got some thin to throw at everybody, everyone know how the ages in the bible reach the thousands. Well i got a theory. Alright before ceaser riegned most of the times were in the lunar year. which is based on the cycles of the moon which a complete moon cycle is thirty days long. Well during the riegn of a man named ceaser it was changed to the solar year ( 365 years). Now lets take a age 2000 divide it by 30 we get 66 years. If my theory is right then wouldnt that mean the bibical figures lived as long as normal people?

You have a bit of a problem with your thesis. The ancient people marked the years by the planting and the harvest not by the moon. Next men of the day in question lived hundreds of years not thousands. Lastly around the time of the flood the lifespan of man fell greatly. Something happened to make the environment less hospitable to mankind. Maybe some celestial body a comet or an asteroid can close enough to pull the waters up over the earth in a massive flood and strip away a protective shield that enabled mankind to log those long years??? Why would God have to make a scientific explanation to us. never the less he uses science to work all His signs and wonders. Ever hear the story of the man on his roof repairing some damaged shingles when he started to slide. He knew the fall to the ground would kill him. He prayed "God save me" then his pant leg got stuck on a nail and he said " Oh never mind". Today too many of us are like that man. We think God would do some great "magic trick" but He works in all our lives though medicine that he has given to us, and through a neighbor holding out his hand in help and friendship to another. Yet here God haters refuse to see His work among us in the world... Jim

Most of the extremely long ages in the bible are less than 900 years. Also 1 solar year = 12 lunar cycles, so you could argue that the biblical year is 1/12 of the solar year. If that is the case then 900/12 is 75 solar years. Conceivable.

Adam created in the image of God and Jesus, was made to have eternal life in a life sustaining earth. Adam, Eve and Satan in Eden cause eternal life to be LOST, then the life sustaining earth was LOST in the flood, it involved so much of heaven that for man to have eternal life on earth, there will have to be a new heavens and a new earth [ the same as it was before Eden ].

Noah was in the flood and he knew just exactly what the times and season are for plant life, the times and seasons that man goes by, new Moon to new moon to establish the year.

When God created man he was perfect and without illness. After the fall it would have taken several generations for disease and genetic problems to emerge. It is also plausible that the pre-flood atmosphere was very different and that human beings were protected from many of the harsher environmental factors that we have today. Ancient men knew as much about the stars and how to gauge the passage of a year as we do today.

The only source that says that people lived so long is the portion of the Bible attributed to Moses. We know he exaggerated the story of the Great Flood and Noah's Ark. I'm thinking Moses probably exaggerated the ages that people lived to, too.

I can't follow your calculations. What is the 2000? But I have often wondered whether those ages were a translational error or if the world spun faster back then and they weren't full years, something like you're saying.

Oh I wish I was better with math, I like this question. I'll come back and post a 'good' answer if someone doesn't beat me to it ;)

PS: did you also know that according to scriptures life spans steadily decreased and then increase again before the end?

makes a lot of sense. People had to use something in the stars to keep track of time. Thats a pretty good theory, but needs more testing.

That's an interesting thought, but if true, then why did God say that we live too long and His spirit cannot abide within us that long, so He shortened our lives to 120 years. Divide 120 by 30 and you get only 4 :)
