i lived in the north of ireland 8 years ago
my parents still own a house up there ....so we still have address in the north
if i was to go to the north and buy a car(as they are cheaper) would i be able to avoid paying VRT even tho i live in the south???
as i could register my address as the northern one???

been lookng for an answer for this one for a long time but nobody can give me a specific answer

No, the vehicle would still be liable for VRT. And you may also have to pay import duty and declare intrastat for transferring goods between eu countries
