We wanted to get married in Bora Bora but I don't think my family would be able to afford the airfare there. I have a big family in Illinois his lives in West Virginia and we live in Alaska so If we had the wedding up here a plane ticket would be about $1000 for everyone ,so I was thinking If an ticket costs that much, why not get married somewhere on the beach where everyone could enjoy a mini vacation together. The question is where could we get married on a beach where our family could afford to come? Is there discounts, if we book a year in advance, and if the family all book the same flight to leave to the same destination the same day? We were thinking Mexico might work, but any suggestions would be great, or if you've been to a wedding like this and know how they pulled it off let me know how.

Myrtle Beach SC, cheap hotel rates, try http://www.sidestep.com, http://www.cheaptickets.com, http:www.hotwire.com and http://www.priceilne.com. Try booking vacation packages where your airfare and hotel room are paid all together and it saves money than booking separately.

Also when booking flights depart from the nearest big city where you live its usually cheaper than booking a flight from one smaller city to another.

My husband and I got married on in my hometown South Padre Island Texas. There is a lady there who does weddings on the beach and she only charged about $165 for the entire ceremony (Although prices may vary now). Then we stayed at the beach for a few days (3 I think) and the rest of the time I spent with my family because I don't get to see them often as we live in Charlotte, NC. We had our reception in my Aunt's back yard where we put up Tiki torches and tropical decorations. She even planted more palm trees! Although, I think the same lady helps with wedding receptions. It was perfect and at the end of it all we had only spent $5000. That included the flight, the honeymoon, the dress, and miscellaneous items. Oh, and my hubby wore white linen pants and a white linen shirt, very casual. The website for the lady that we used is http://www.weddingsbytheseaspi.com/.... It was very stress free and beautiful. Just an option. Best of luck!

Florida has good airfare and hotel deals. Try http://www.floridaweddingservices.com. They seem to have the most reasonable packages.

Or, get married on a beach in Virginia (http://www.beachweddingsvirginia.com/). That would be a closer location for his family and they may be able to drive (and save on airfare).

This is what my niece did:
The bride and groom, the parents and siblings flew to a of beach of their choice Many pictures were taken .
There was a reception held the following weekend with friends and relatives invited. A slide show played to let everyone share their moment. It was great and very successful.

How about the Outerbanks North Carolina. The houses are so cheap to rent especially if you did it in April or May or even September but then you are running into hurricane season. It is not far from Virginia.

Call the airlines and hotels and ask them if they offer group rates...that would probably be the easiest thing to do
