I am 1 yr and almost 3 months clean of meth, crystal and crank. They are not as strong os heroin but I done them for 5 years. My sister was on it heavier then I was but all I had to do is look at what it was doing to her, not caring if her kids were in the same room and what it was doing to her fiance and her both. On top of that I just looked in the merror and think about my son and what I was doing to myself could effect him. I slowly weened myself off of it all and was able to quit being friends with the ppl who influenced me and I refused to have anything to do with my sister and her 2 ltl ones until she was clean. The path to soberness is not easy but with some help and good influences it is possible. Asking for help is the best 1st step you can take keep trying to want to quit the more you want to quit the easier it will be to get out of it.

quit cold turkey. Let yourself get sick and embrace the unbearable pain, so it reminds you to never do it again. Its not as hard as some people make it out to be. Just think how much you need to feel the pain so you dont do it again. After a few days you will be ok. Dont take the chicken way out like the other junkies that eventually go back on it and use other drugs to not feel so bad. You NEED to feel horrible for those few days and always remember them. Make sure you have a friend (not another heroin user) take a few pics of you going thru withdrawals to help you remember years later if there is a chance you think of doing it again. But dont worry...you wont.

So, what's the question? How do you quit? Stop taking it but you have to be weened from it carefully if you don't want to get very sick. If you have a doctor, you should ask him. Everything you tell him is confidential. It's a lot harder to get off it than you may realize and cold turkey can be dangerous. You need medical help even if it isn't rehab. Good luck!

I am 10+ yrs sober and with all I have learned from AA about addiction. . . drugs too,is that if you go cold turkey as one suggests, there is the possibility of such severe withdrawals that you could possibly die.
Rehabs are good places to detox safely and under supervision and to start getting into the swing of the 12 step program.
You could go to a Dr and pose your dilemma and get put into the hospital for supervised detox.
Upon completing the detox,RUN and do not walk to your first of many NA or AA meetings and keep your happy butt there and learn what you need to learn to get into and stay in "RECOVERY".
RECOVERY is your only hope or you are going to die and that is just a fact for those who refuse to get off drugs and or alcohol. . . .seen it happen too often to those who chose to ignore AA/NA or who just could not seem to even get the desire to want to quit.

I started using xanax and klonopin to battle anxiety in 2001 and I still can't get off them. I can understand where your coming from. Let me guess, you don't get a good high from it anymore but if you don't have it your head feels "crazy". I don't think that theres anything else that you can do except for checking into a rehab?

the recovery rate for herion is very low. you cannot do it alone. doctor can help with the medical part. find an N.A. meeting. it's the best chance you can find and it's free!!!!
