I also have oily/shiny skin and do not eat anythging greasy. Some people just have over-active subaceous glands and produce more oil.
Whatever you do, DO NOT over-wash your face as this will just increase the problem as the subaceous glands will just over-produce oil in an attempt to not let the skin get dry.
Try using a self-adjusting cleanser and a light moisturizer. I know that most people suggest not using a moisturizer when you have oily skin, but ALL skin types require moisture and as I've previously stated, allowing your skin to get dry will just further aggrevate the situation.
As for the shine, try Intelligence...Not-so-basic skin personalizer, but INSTEAD of using it prior to your moisturize, moisturize AND THEN use the personalizer. Depending on how "shiny" your skin actually is, you shouldn't need to apply more than once or twice a day.
Hope this helps, and remember......MOISTURIZE!

I bought some facial wash at WalMart, it was around $4. It's St. Ives Purifying Facial Clear Pore Cleanser for all skin types (with tea tree extract to deep clean pores, effectively eliminating oilk, leaving skin fresh, clear and healthy) comes in a 10 oz. pump bottle; light green color in a clear bottle. Everything I've ever used has always broken my skin out, b/c of it being too harsh, or would dry it out and my face would peel like crazy. I found this stuff and used it, and it didn't do either. My face was a little dryer b/c I have extremely oily skin, but it has never peeled from it. I love it, I'm working on like my 7th bottle so far!!

Store bought products do not always work. They didn't work for me. Well they helped but not entirely. They worked but didn't get rid of the problem. I reccomend that you go to the Dermatologist. They always help you. But incase u can't then just start cleaning your face before you go to sleep and when you wake up. Apply a face refreshner after drying your face. Or u can also use special deep cleansing masks that will deep clean your skin. Clean & Clear are one of the best acne skin care products. Hope this works. Good Luck!!!!!!

Do you eat much processed food? Do you drink soda, suger based or caffienated drinks? The oil has got to be coming from somewhere.

You have to attack acne where it starts, with your diet. For me, diet was the cause and solution. Topical medications fight the symptoms. Start by eliminating trans fats and eating more fruits and vegetables. Once you start cleaning up the inside of your body, by eating properly, the outside of your body (your skin) will be get cleaned up too. I started a website to document my problem and solution.

You might find it helpful to read my story. Just remember to eat an all natural/organic diet with lots of fruits and vegetables. Stay away from processed foods. Use mild, all natural cleansers and don't pick at your face. Get lots of sleep and enough water for your body weight. Remember, clean body = clean skin. While you're waiting for your skin to clear, remind yourself that acne is a challenge that you will overcome soon. Once you're rid of it, tell all your friends how you did it. That's what I'm doing. God Bless.

Switch to Neutrogena Rapid Clear to control the oil as it contain salicylic acid that will not only dry out pimple, but will also make the skin drier, controlling the shine.

Try a Silk Dust powder. Your skin may just be slightly oilier than the next persons. Silk dust takes the shine away and is good for your skin. You can get it at Jane Iredale or Everyday Minerals. I would try that before you try a new face wash because switching brands of face wash may cause you to break out. Silk dust won't

I use the clean and clear oil control gel wash and blot my face with tissue paper. It's a thin film of tissue that absorbs oil from the face, which is available at any beauty supply store for about $2 a pack. I receive complements on my completion cuz it's usually pimple free and oil free. Apply any unscented facial lotion after the gel wash cuz it dries your face.

I think it is the oils in your face wash. If i were u i would throw those out! get some oil free stuff. Neutrogena oil free acne wash is a good choice. maybe cut back on the water too... they have masques that take oils from your face too.

I have acne too. I am using Burtsbee herbal blemish. It helps you to control acne from growing bigger. You can see the result from at least two weeks. And also try to use homemade remedies for acne such as apply mash tomato on your skin, wait 15 to 20 mins and wash out.
