The flight is long but well worth it. Israel is a special place with something for everyone.

Water sports, swimming with dolphins, nature hikes, bird watching tours, biblical tours, anicient digs, great food, open markets, wine tasting tours, museums, arts/music, desert tours and nightlife.

The weather is great especially from march through June and the fall. Winter is the rainy season and Israel does get snow at times.
Summer is very hot.

The really intersting thing about weather in Israel is one can go from arid dry climate to tropical within an hour.
A trip to Israel is wonderful!

Dress modestly when not on the beach.
Fashion? Forget it in Israel. Anything goes.

Weather? Israel is only 280 miles long - but in the winter while they are skiing in the north on Mount Herman they are sunbathing and swimming in the south in Eilat.

Travel within Israel?
There is a train service that runs up the coast.
Bus service is very good. The Egged coaches are for travelling town to town.
Remember the name Cheroot. These are mini buses or large cars that ply for passengers at bus stations and airports. They are the same price as buses but will only go from A to B with no stops in between. All air conditioned.

Israel is not a backward country. You will be able to buy whatever you require whilst there, so no need to take mountains of stuff with you. You will have no trouble making yourself understood. English is the 3rd language after Hebrew and Arabic. Even the road signs are in English.

Don't waste water whilst you are there.

There are many restaurants throughout the country. All very clean.
Try falaffels, the Israeli take-away. Very tasty.

Important.
To most foreigners, Israeli's seem very rude and arogant, but you mustn't compare them to your own country.
Once you get to know them they are very warm and friendly.

Perhaps the most important thing is - if you are Jewish, don't expect the Israeli's to bow down to you and worship the ground you walk on. They respect all religions, including Muslims, equally.

You may not believe this because there is so much propoganda against them, but even though the Jews have been persecuted throughout history the Israeli's do not hate anyone.

Whoever you are and whatever colour you are - you will be made welcome.

Enjoy

It depends on where you are coming from. From the USA or UK, there's no problem, but a friend of mine coming with a one-way ticket from Ireland (he wasn't sure where he wanted to go next) was not allowed to come--they stopped him in London. Mostly, it's not a problem, if you have a round-trip ticket and you look like a nice person. The security is actually easier than traveling in and out of the USA nowadays, because they DO profiling, which the USA isn't ready to do yet. That means that if you look like student or tourist, and you act normal, you'll be fine.
The weather is great! It's getting warmer now, especially in the Tel Aviv area. If you are coming before May, dress for spring. From May to October, dress for summer and bring a light sweater for evenings. Unless you are going to Jerusalem. That's a bit cooler.
Fashion depends on where you are going. If you want to go to religious sites, bring a long dress or skirt. If you want to hang out in Tel Aviv, dress like a European--low jeans, midrif shirts, that kind of thing. Basically, if anything you like; but you'll see most of the people, especially the girls in their 20s, dressed to the Nines almost all the time.
Where do you want to go? When?

Weather:
Weather is perfect now! It's about 75-ish degrees F (25-30C) in most parts of the country. During the winter, highs dip into the mid-teens and during the summer highs reach up to 45C/110F in the Dead Sea. Northern Israel is humid, while southern Israel is dry.

Travel:
What do you care to know?

Fashion:
Israelis, in general, are very unfashionable and dress very casually. Depending on which part of the country you are in, people dress differently. In Jerusalem they dress very conservatively and show little skin, while in Tel Aviv the more skin, the better.

weather is beautiful- it gets a little chilly at night, but a sweatshirt is fine.
one thing abou the travel: if you are coming from the US, where the flights are 10 hours or longer, try to get a nonstop flight. i just flew with a stopover flight, and it was really long and dragged out. Also, if you take a non stop, bring sleeping pills with you, because the seats are cramped, and you might not be able to sleep so well.
enjoy your trip!
