Ok here is the debate in our house: I like French vanilla with chocolate sauce or strawberry with whip cream my hubby says why not buy chocolate or strawberry ice cream but I say it is not the same. Any one else like plain ice cream with toppings?
His fave? Butter pecan yuck!

Of course its not the same! Is he nuts??? One of my favorites from childhood is Neslie's Quick powder sprinkled on top of plain vanilla. Its great on Strawberry too. Try it!

No - flavored ice cream is not the same as vanilla ice cream with toppings.
First of all, the toppings provide a concentrated burst of flavor. Second, they provide a different texture and mouth feel. Thirdly, you can vary the ratio of topping to ice cream for different effects. Lastly, not all toppings are the same. A chocolate sauce is not the same as a thick fudge sauce. A jammy strawberry sauce is not the same a marinated strawberries.

I love plain vanilla ice cream with Hersheys chocolate syrup on it,peanuts,and bananas! I also love hot fudge sundaes with vanilla ice cream,hot fudge,nuts,and whipped cream with a cherry on top,YUMMY!! ;-)
