Okay, my living room sectional is tan, the carpet is tan. I want to stick to earth tones mostly tans, browns, and beiges.

The other 3 walls will be the Parmesan color.
So I want to stick to earth tones in the art. So is it okay to mix the kind of art as long as I stay within the colors?

The art can be whatever motif you want, you can even mix motifs (I like to do this, it gives a "gallery" effect), as long as the colors are complimentary. Take a look at this website; it's where I get all my art pieces from. Hope this helps.

If there is some piece of art that you simply have to have, you can always have it matted and framed to blend with the walls.
We chose our art (lots of it, too) based on what we like to see, not how it blends into the decor. Any fine piece of art (including the framing) is an asset to your home, and it doesn't matter if it doesn't match the color of the walls.

I think you want to bring a bold color in as an accent, be really eye catching. maybe a yellow or red.
