First of all you should have him checked out by a vet to rule out any illnesses. Cats often urinate outside their litter box if they have urinary tract infections or something else going on. And they won't show you that they're sick either.
Get some Anti Icky Poo ( best cleaner ever ) online and clean the area thoroughly. Also get some Feliway Spray and treat the area with that. The Comfortzone Plug-Ins work really well, too. They help reduce anxiety, stress, anger or fear in your cat.

Your kitty keeps returning to the same spot to pee becuase the urine smell attracts him to do so - it says to him "This is where you pee." The first step you need to take is to remove all traces of urine scnet from that spot. Buy a product designed for this purpose. I use "Nature's Miracle" or "Petzyme" pet stain and odor remover. Use liberally and it may take several aplications. If it is carpet, soak the spot with the stain and odor remover.
Next step is to move his litter box to that spot. This is so that if by chance there is still some lingering smell of usin or if the cat goes to that same spot out of sheer habit, no further urine will go to soak in that spot.
Over a period of days, gradually begin moving the litter box to the spot you intend it to stay in permanently. Move it a foot at a time so that kitty does not notice (sudden) change.

You have to outsmart your kitty.

I use duct or packing tape you stick it up in the space they go in and they will stay away. My cat has started using the box since i did this. Just make sure you tape the ends down or the tape will go with your cat. Also spray peroxide in any spots that they have used. It pulls the urine out of the carpet

Ammonia does not help

while eva he urinates make share you sparkling the section appropriate with disinfectant. If u have not carried out so all rdy i might say you do this. Cats will additionally go in an analogous place becoz they might scent it , they might scent the place they have been be4 whether you cant. So ensure you provide it a competent wash and don't use in basic terms with water. He sould start up using the muddle tray then. in any case sturdy success :)

I had a problem with my cat 'marking' the furniture with his urine, and another Answers user pointed me at 'Feliway'. It's a product you can get at Petsmart. It's basically synthetic feline facial phernomes(sp?). The cat smells Feliway and thinks he's already marked everything. It stopped my cat from peeing. He's a lot calmer too.
Good luck

Now, ym cat would do this when I was gone for a while (on business) or if I did something to upset him. Once I gave him the attention he wanted, he just quit doing it. When my fiancee irritated my other cat, he p[eed on him TWICE!! after they had it out, it never happened again.

Try spraying straight amonia on the spot, they don't like that smell.
