If the 18yr old is still living in their parent's home they need to abide by the parent's rules. I don't care if they are 18 or 30 yrs old the parents are still the parents. It has nothing to do with paying rent or bills or whatever, it's respect for the parents and their home. So, to make a long answer short, YES, the parents have the right.

It depends. Does that 18 yr old pay bills? Does that 18 yr old ask the parents for the car or for food or for money or to wash their clothes. If that is the case then yes, yes they do have the right to ground the 18 yr old, because if they were acting like an 18 yr old they wouldn't be living off of mom and dad. Now my kids are alot younger, but that would be my take on it. Me being 24 if I lived with my parents and lived off of them then yeah i see the parents sideof grounding. But if the 18 yr old pays bills and furnishes for themselves, including doing their own laundry then no. no grounding then.

Yes the parents do have the right to ground an 18 year old!I don't care how old the child is, If they are living in my house they will live by my rules! If they don't like they are free to leave and pay their own bills. My 18 year old just got her car back because she broke curfew. Good luck and I hope this helps.

Not really - technically you are considered an adult. But do remember they are only doing it for your own good. I couldn't imagine grounding my children at 18 because they are at the point of being big enuf and ugly enuf to make their own way in the world. You only learn form mistakes right. Trying to take back the control in your life may be difficult as your pareants OBVIOUSLY love heaps (always rememebr to be thankful for the fact) but perhaps a rational discussion between all parties is in order. Find out what their boundaries are so you know where you stand and you let them know what your boundaries are. If you act in a rationale manner and don't throw your toys out of the cot then you may be surprised at the reponse

If you are living under their roof, you should still be living by their rules. If you don't like it you get a job and move out. Take care of yourself, see how easy it isn't to be on your own. Then and only then will you appreciate everything your parents tried to teach you as a teenager.

As long as you live in their house, you follow their rules or you get grounded. If you do not like it, you get your own place. Have some respect for your parents!

If the 18-year-old lives at home, yes. If the kid doesn't like it, he is free to move out, however. Ah, adulthood: freedom AND responsibility!
