the truth, the guide said EXACTLY what the guy said. remember the question was what did the GUIDE say, not what the guy said.

He told the truth because if the guy was from the east he would have said he was from the west (Lied) and if he was from the west he would have said west (truth) Therefore the guide must be from be from the west as well because there is no way either of the other two could have said east and lived up to the lie and truth part.

The tour guide would have had to tell the truth, because the villager he asked would always be lying. This is because if the villager told the truth he'd go to the West, but if the villager lied, he would also go to the West because if he went to the east, he would be telling the truth that he was a lier. This in turn makes what the tour guide said true because none of the liars would ever say they lived in the East village.

the guide told the truth bacause
if the guy is from the east he would be lier and would tell the guide he is from the west
and if the guy is from the west he would be telling the truth and he would say he is from the west
so in both cases ppl from the island would say from west
so the guide is telling the truth

The guy could have been lieing or telling the truth. But the question asked was weather or not the GUIDE was telling the truth. So yes the GUIDE told you the truth because he just repeated what the man told him.

never said the tour guide was from the island, so he could be lying or mabey the other guy was not from the island too.
but if the tour guide tells the truth, you still do not have a definate anser. this is because the truth tellers would say they are from the truth telling side the liers would lie and say that as well.

if the tour guide is from the west, he did, but that's assuming the guy was indeed from the west, because if he was from the east, he was lying ergo the guide would be lying as well...then if the tour guide was from the east...well he would be lying either way, but when you think about it, the only way he'd be telling a lie is that he said that the guy was from the east---

Yes, the man does live in the west. If he lived in the east, he would have lied and said the west. If he lived in the west . he would have told the truth. Both cases deliver the same answer.
Now where did the guide come from?..it doesn't really matter.

He told the truth, because the guy will always say west.
If hes from the east he will say west and if from the west will say west.
since the guide said "west" he was telling the truth.

you told us where the guy lives, not where the guide lives, therefore i can't tell if the guide is from the east or the west, so i don't know if he lied or not.
