The seats are much roomier and comfortable. You have additional leg room. Very important if you are tall or are flying for a long period of time.

Better meals and free cocktails. Individual service from flight attendant. You board first and you deboard first. When checking in, you have a reservation desk just for first class travelers. Better service

Many airlines have a private lounge where you can go while waiting for your plane to board. They provide food, coffee, soda and cocktails all complimentary.

It's a very nice way to travel.

On all airlines, first class includes:
- Priority boarding
- Seated at the front of the aircraft
- More legroom, and larger/wider seats
- Food that actually tastes good, and served on plates
- Better service from the flight crew
- A private lavatory for first class passengers only
- Alcoholic drinks in glasses, are usually served to fist class passengers after they have boarded
- Economy passengers are not allowed into the first class cabin
- First to depart to the aircraft

On some airlines:
- A private lounge before boarding
- Seats that can turn into a flat bed
- A private TV screen

If you didn't already know, flying first class is very expensive, and it usually costs thousands for just a short flight.

It depends on what kind of airplane you're on and how long the flight is. And what airline you're on as well. On a medium-sized jet (i.e., Boeing 737) that flies shorter routes - like 2-3 hours - you basically just get a bigger seat, more legroom, and free alcoholic drinks and bigger snacks. On slightly longer flights, like 5 hours, they might give you an actual meal (free).

On even bigger planes, especially on international flights (to Europe and Asia - Boeing 777, Airbus A330 or 340) they have even bigger seats with even bigger and better meals than they would serve in coach. Some airlines and aircraft have seats that recline to almost like beds. Of course these seats are thousands of dollars and are only occupied by business travellers and/or those people with LOTS of frequent flier miles. More miles than I have, and I have a lot. I've only flown first class on domestic flights on those medium-sized jets with somewhat bigger seats and free drinks.

Oh yeah and you get to board first if you're flying first class. And sometimes the flight attendant will offer to hang your jacket up.

All the other answers are good and everything I read is true. But you know what? I travel economy and I get there just about the same time as first class does. I'm not sure it's worth the extra bucks. We did get upgraded to F/C one time. I didn't see that big of a deal about it.

it can make a big difference if you're traveling very long distances and/or are traveling on business because there's more space and you get better meals (for free). it just makes the flying experience more comfortable and hopefully restful, so when you arrive at your destination, you won't be as tired.

Much more comfortable, you actually get a meal (in most cases), and priority boarding.

Other than that - it's much more expensive.

LEG ROOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, wider seats, and tons more leg room. The heck with the rest of the perks, it's the fact that I don't have someone's greasy hair in my face because they leaned their seat back that wins it for me!!!
