How did you get your child to stick to it?

The best advice I can give you is advice people gave me!! Let the child go when he or she is ready. Encourage them to go but do not force them to go. I worked myself to death trying to get my little girl potty trained at age 2 and I finally gave up and let her do it on her own and she was using the potty by 2 1/2.. There is nothing you can really do to make them go potty cause if you force them then they may not do it at all. Hope this helps you! And good luck. It just takes time and patience...

I think the best type is the ones that can be put on the toliet, not the little potty seats. It work great for my girls. And while we were still training I gave my girls 5 m&ms for going, it helped. I also asked every half hour to an hour if they needed to go, and had them go even if they said no, sometimes they did not want to leave what they were doing, but don't push it too much, she may really not have to go. Make it fun and praise her for going, make it a big deal. Tell her how proud you are.

I got the cheapest little potty chair at the store. I put it in front of the TV during Blues Clues and had my daughter use it like a little chair. (she was 18 mos) then I had her sit on it w/o pants and she pooped! I made a big deal about it like she was soooooooooo big now. once she was going in it every time I started leaving it around and she used it. She wore just a shirt and cotton training pants, so if she wet we just changed her pants. If she used the potty on her own or told me she had to I made a big deal about that YAY! and she took to it like a duck to water.
