I am wondering if Behind Enemy Lines was an actual event in Bosnia.
If so, when did it happen?
What groups of people are involved?
Or is the movie completely fake or only made to show newer, interesting technology?
Could you history buffs enlighten me?

I am in the Air Force and am a Flight Engineer on an HH60G Pavehawk. Our primary mission in the AF is CSAR (Combat Search And Rescue). The movie is very and I mean very loosely based on the rescue of Scott Ogrady. The only similarities though is that he was a pilot that was shot down and he was rescued by the Marines. Other than that the movie is 99.99% Hollywood.

The movie is very loosely based on real events ... at least in part.
In June of 1995, an F-16 fighter jet flown by Air Force Captain Scott O'Grady was shot down by a Serb SA-6 missile over Bosnia. He parachuted from his plane and evaded capture for six days before being rescued by Marines.
He later wrote a book about this called, "Return with Honor", which is a good read, and I'd definitely recommend it if you're interested in the real story.
However, that's where the similarities with the movie Behind Enemy Lines end. In the real story, there's no navigator that gets shot, no mass graves that are found by the pilot, etc. That's all Hollywood.

I think it was based on actual events, I remember hearing that they were Air Force pilots and not Navy like they were in the movie. I think they made up a lot of the story though.

I have no information on that, but what I can tell is that majority of the movies that hollywood has made portray pretty much everything that the government and military is up to. Yeah, they say don't believe everything you hear but this is the truth and there are resources to this. I rely heavily not on theory but on the Bible as well but just open your eyes and look around. I, Robot. Overseas in Asia if ya haven't heard about there are actually robots that they have created but they progress I don't know if a success or not. And technology is advancing everyday and us citizens who are clueless to what's going need to aware that we truly are part of their experts. $pollution and the food we be eating$
