I've been having a hectic life lately, and I've had a lot of problems which I won't mention here. The problems I've been having are problems that I can't fix by myself; I feel helpless and insignifigant. One day I came home to an empty house, and I went into my bathroom and took out a razor. I know, I know, you think I cut myself. I don't mean a razor blade, I mean a venus divine razor that one shaves their legs with. I sat down in the empty bathtub and I began pulling the razor up my legs as though i were shaving. My legs were dry, though, and so was the razor. Each stroke left a scrape of dry skin, but it didn't draw any blood. I did it all over both of my legs. By morning, my shins were red and stung all over. But it felt nice, you know? I was the one making decisions about my body. No one else. In school that week we watched a video about suicide, and it mentioned cutting one's self to feel in control. Am I a cutter? I don't draw any blood.

Don't label yourself a "Cutter." But just because you didn't draw blood doesn't make it okay. I completely understand where you're coming from though... I've cut a lot in my past. But there's something about it that you need to know. You feel like you're in control now, but soon it takes control over you. I didn't think it would happen to me but it did. Stuff was going on at home, also I have really bad depression. I started doing it when I had a REALLY bad day. Then soon I did it whenever ANYTHING made me upset. Whether it be a comment someone said, ect. Soon I was cutting several times a day. And even though it only bled like five times out of the hundred times that I did it it left HORRIBLE scars that remind me of everything. What you're going through is hard, but you don't need to resort to that. I understand it was one of those things where you were upset and it just "happened." That's how it happened with me... Next time you're feeling crappy, email me. It's blueyedblondej5@yahoo.com I've been through just about everything.

You are not technically a cutter, but this doesn't mean you shouldn't be worried. If you are feeling out of control, you should go talk to someone. Do not think that just because you are not drawing blood, it is not an issue. The best thing right now for you to do is to tell someone close about your life problems. Even if you hold the razor part to yourself, you will feel better with someone on your side. Another thing you could do is involve yourself in something fun, time-consuming, and requiring work. I did this with piano. Practice, or take part in this activity, and allow it to be something that gets you away from everyday life.
I hope everything works out for you.

you are not a cutter technically but you do fall inder the category of self mutilator. all the things you said you felt are classic signs of self mutilation i.e. sense of control. it means that you are troubled some way or another and this is not healthy. regardless of how much control you think you have, it will get worse unless you stop it not. there are almost no cases where self mutilators stayed at the same small level of self mutilation. eventually you will become so dependant on it as a coping mechanism that just scrape won't be enough. don't let this addictive bad habit take hold of you now or it will control your life.

Why not talk with your couselor, a peer mentor, or even your local mental health center? If you really didn't feel badly about this, or that it is abnormal behavior, you wouldn't be seeking justification from other people about it. You are recognizing that it is a problem and you are crying out for help on it-please call someone. You have many people around you who care about you-probably some you aren't even aware of. You are an important individual with talents and contributions. Make the call.

its still cutting, but i get where your coming from about not drawing any blood, i also did something similar to you a few weeks a go because of poblems i was havin except i used a sissors, and sure enough it felt good at the time but i regretted it later, its so much trouble having having to hide your scars espically at school. i no how ur feelin at the moment. my arms still havnt healed and to make matters worse i reopened my scars. but you really should try and talk to someone about it.hope you feel better soon and remember ur not on you own.
