It's legal in some states, but you need to have a special permit to own one. Most end up in cat sanctuaries once they get to be a certain age/size . . . at least the lucky ones do.

First of all, a Tiger is not a pet. Keeping one is totally different than a pet. My wife is a Vet Tech and she knows of people who "Tried" to keep them as a pet. They had to give them up. They require a lot of room and special attention, plus if you are their neighbor and have kids you would turn them in. Most home owners associations will not allow that type of animal in their neightborhoods.

We have a male near-Wolf that is 1-1/2 years old. He is not a pet. He is like another child. He requires a lot of attention and does not like to be left alone. He is afraid of anyone he does not know since he was young. We have a 16 month old girl and the Wolf and her are amazing together. He protects her an has never been rough with her. The Wolf now is testing me (Father) for the Alpha position. He constantly challanges me in duels (plays rough). He likes to approach from behind me and wraps his legs around my feet to trip me. But he does this in a play role. He also is protective of his "Clan or Pack". He trusts only us. We have to be careful if a stranger comes to the door as he gets very very bothered.

A Tiger will do the same. It will be too much to handle. Better to let nature take care of the Tiger and you just enjoy life as it is!!!!

Tigers don't make good pets. People that have owned tigers as pets in the past have been forced to give them up to Animal Control so they can be properly placed in a zoo or wild life care facility. Many owners that have tried to tame these animals have been seriously injured and some have been killed.

It is legal in a few states..whether its morally right to have a tiger is another matter.

(It is legal in parts of Nevada and Florida that I know for sure. You may or may not need some type of exotic permit.

I heard on an animal TV show just this week that eight human beings had been killed by "pet" tigers last year.

Not legally. It is a VERY bad idea. It may look cute as a cub, but one day it will grow. And then you nor the tiger will be happy. they have special diets and need lots of space.

No... the big cats were never meant to be domesticated and made into pets. They will always be wild. Its sad for them to be in captivity and very dangerous for humans.

Here in Texas it is possible. Of course, you'll have to obtain proper permits from the courts.

Question is: WHY WOULD YOU WANT ONE?! They're a wild animal. Not a domestic one.
