screws, are safe? Or should I just go ahead and buy the ones that you screw to the cabinet door?

thanks!

The stuff with the double-sided sticky tape is OK for those toddlers who are just beginning to walk. They don't have the strength to open the cabinets.

When they get to be 2-1/2 to 3, they will be mechanically inclined enough to figure out how to open the latches. Especially if they see you doing it a few times. If not, then they will use brute strength to force it open. Those screws aren't exactly made for jerking and yanking with the full force of a toddler on them.

So the tape ones would be sufficient.

We have an apartment so we had to go with those...and my daughter decided if it didn't open on the first try then the obvious conclusion was to pull harder...which ripped the tape thing off. We kept putting it back on and she kept yanking hard enough to pull it off. Now she's almost two and we just have a baby gate up in the entry to the kitchen and don't keep anything we wouldn't want her getting into any lower than 4 feet off the ground. If you can do the screws I would suggest it.

I had them and to be honest they was ok till my kid turned 10 months old, he was strong enough to actully pull it off. I suggest the screw type. only cause they do seem to last longer. It's really worth the extra time.

They are good products. You can also add more lock to add more reinforcement if you think that your kid will be trying to force the door open.

Good Luck!
