Really, it's just a sneaky way to get religion into school. Why don't they teach that intelligent design is more likely to have been made by a team of superior beings instead of just one? Obviously it is just a way to throw Christianity into school.

Your thoughts on intelligent design please?

Eryn, how do we know that you aren't an adult masquerading as an enlightened child?

Bad science. Crummy political move used to appease the religious fundamentalists who don't like funding education that doesn't teach their personal belief system.

Since this subject actually concerns us children, here is an answer from a child's point of view.

I personally think that it is good that children are taught the intelligent design. I was taught it in school just a week or so ago and i found it very interesting.

I am taught about the Big Bang and i have o write, if an exam question asks me how the world started, that it started with the Big Bang, even if i do not believe this. (No one knows exactly how the earth began, so no one can say that it was deffo the B.B.)

So i am taught about atoms, space, the B.B., evolution and all that stuff 9 lessons a week. Then i walk into my Religious education lesson and it is so refreshing to learn that there are other beliefs out there and to me many of these theories make just as much sense as science (and i love science).

What im trying to say is that for us all to have freedom of choice and freedom to believe what we want, we should have the right to be taught everything at school....both scientific theories and religious....not just one or the other.

It is all part of living in a democratic society (lol, learnt this just yesterday in my Citizenship lesson.)

BTW: I am a Christian and i belive in evolution and that God made the earth(through evolution) it is not imposs. to belive both. To me, God and Science go hand in hand.

The problem I see with intelligent design is that it has no scientific tests or any other "facts" to base it on. I have my own Ideas about it and could create a class on how and why God did it, but that would be only my opinion.

I do believe in intelligent design, but what do you say about it in a science class? That all life evolved is a theory based on findings and facts. Most people that believe in evolution are not smart enough to come to that conclusion from the facts, yet they believe what they are told about evolution.

Maybe it's just my district, but we teach only evolution. The school board says that it's science, and even a religious man has to know about what they're arguing against before their argument can be valid. They also say that you can opt out of it by doing some other, curriculum-assigned project during the time that Evolution is being taught.

so long as it is portrayed as an alternate scientific theory simple because it cannot be disproved, and because evolution and the big bang cannot be completely proved i see no problem with it. and in the school i go to (public) it isn't. Actually to not include all possible theories simply because some don't fit with everyone's world view is poor science. Let the students decide which seems more correct.

It isn't?
Not in public schools...

How can their not be a designer. The proof of his existence is all around us in the sun, moon, grass, stars, sky, plants, animals and all the things around us. In the earth, Which is the right size, the perfect distance from the sun , has the perfect tilt, mixture of gases to support life, and a life cycle. We see design in ourselves as humans. We have brains and a nerve center that store knowledge and memories plus it tell us when we are in pain. We have ears that we can hear just the right amout not to little so we could hear others talk and not to much we can Hear air molecules passing through our ears. We have eyes to see plant and animals and all Creation. We have a heart to pump blood throughout are body. We have lungs to breate in air.
Every part of our body has a purpose and was designed perfectly.

I believe their is a designer...

My state stopped this years ago, but your state must be behind in times.

When I was a child they would give out bibles. NOT ANYMORE.

I think they should still hand out bibles. Give the children a chance to make their OWN decision between evolution and a creator.

Intelligent design is rebranded fringe Christian creationism. All you need to do to prove it is make it a creatrix and watch them go bonkers.

My son is in High School biology. If they tried to sneak in ID, he'd be on them so fast.......

OK, first of all, its NOT. In most schools, its not mentioned at all. Why is it that you people cant even consider the fact that you *could* be wrong!!! There *could* be a God!! Just accept the fact you dont know everything, and God could have created us!
