I recently put 2 and 2 together and realised my cat is pregnant. She is on the rather large size. I want to know if anybody could possibl estimate what stage in her pregnancy she is at. She has very swollen teats, she is being very affectionate and she is scratching at my carpet constantly. I dont know whether i should get a box our ready for her with towels in yet or to just leave her do her own thing? Any answer would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

Sorry i should have said that she keeps trying to get in my wardrobe which i have now emptied and put blankets in for her, but she doesnt seem to want to go in there now. Also last night i could see all of her stomach rippling! Really bizarre.
Thanks for your answers so far, and i promise i will get her spayed as soon as i can. Do i have to wait until the kittens are a certain age to do this?
Thanks

She's getting close. The getting into your wardrobe is looking for a nest to have her babies. Another sign she's close is if the fur starts falling out around her nipples.

If you want her to have her babies in the house, I'd keep her indoors at this point. Also, you can make a box for her if you want, but don't be surprised if she picks another spot.

If she really escalates the antsy looking-around behavior, I'd say the kittens are going to show up within the next day or so. Good luck with the new arrivals!

I was watching on you tube and I found a video by a guy showing his cat giving birth and talking about how he helped the mom with the kittens, so I hope it helps, I will post it in the source section.

I have had a a few cats and have gone through a few kitty births myself. They also will have a water that breaks and if you are around for that or notice that, then you will know the kittens are on the way. They also start to pant alot when they go into labour.

You are not going to find your answer here. A cats gestation is approximately 60 days but since you are not sure when she got pregnant you have no way of knowing how far along she is without a vet. Good luck!

To Lillian ?: You have no idea what kind of cat or how big of a cat she is; just because your cats stomach almost touched the ground that all cats will do the same.

Yes, she is getting real close to giving birth. You might want to get (if you have the room) 2 different boxes with towels or blankets set up for her, preferably somewhere quiet, slightly dark and where she won't be bothered--like at the back of a closet. Do NOT allow her to go outside at this time. She may or may not choose to use either one of these places, or she may find a place that she likes better---like behind the entertainment center--yep, one of mine did this. Now, when the kittens have been weaned and placed in nice homes, PLEASE get her spayed.

Pregnancy is approx 64 days.... can you feel any of the babies moving around in her belly? With out a vet to give you a better idea... just keep an eye on your cat... she'll be panting and looking for a place to give birth...even if you did know the aproximate date she'd give birth, chances are she probaby would rather make her own birthing hideaway then take whatever you make for her. SO if you want her to give birth in a safe place and can catch her before she births... keep her confind in a room with a box, towels etc...

my cat took 2 months before she gave birth and I give it about another 3 days to a week, maybe even tonight your never really sure is her stomach like touching the ground yet? when it gets so big it's almost touching the ground you should keep her in and get her a box, some cats wont want you to see for instance her first litter she wanted us to be with her at all times, her second litter she hid in the closet and took the orphaned kitten we had with her rub her stomach and feel if the kittens are kicking if you feel alot of kicks the birth is near if you only feel like one every maybe 5-10 minutes you have time =) but if its like one or two kicks every 2-3 minutes her birth is near just unknown how near but it'll be within the week =) hope this helped have a good day.
