If the camera supports it (I don't specifically know about the S2, it's a little older) I have a program called Opanda IExif which tells me the total number of shutter releases on both my Nikon D50 and D80. Sadly it does not show up on my Fuji S7000 which was contemporary to the S2. The link for this program appears below.
