Ya start with basic obedience it all stems from there.
jack russel are natural ratters. You just have to teach the dog to listen to you no matter what. After that the dog will do what ever you train it to do.

If she is from working stock it should not be too difficult to get her working. Do you have anyone near you that takes their terriers out ratting ? Take her but do make sure she is up to date on all her jags. Good luck and have fun with her.

7 mons.is too young for serious work!
But...the best way to get a terrier going is to TAKE IT OUT!!!!
Miles are the best teacher.
Do you know anybody w/an experienced dog? Tag along but don't let your pup be overly intimidated by the old pro but it *must* show it's manners. Let it follow, praise it for showing interest but DON'T over-match it!
Remember..."soonest ripe,soonest ROTTEN"!

There are several working terrier sites out there, btw.
THE bunny-hugger morons here will NOT help! they'll only tell you how "mean you are to da poor wittle vermins"! LMAO! DON'T listen,OK?

start with basic obedience, then move up to intermiediate with agility. Once you have mastered this, move on to field trial work, it is fun and you both get a real sense of achievement

find a dog school near you and take it there however if the dog stops don't push it remember the dog can't say no any other way.
