Keep taking your medicine, it will improve.

Other things you can do, warm salt water gargle and spit, rinse with clean water. You can also very gently swab the back of your throat and try to remove any white stuff. You might gag which is very common. You can use Qtips or a very very soft toothbrush, such as a baby's toothbrush to remove some of the infection. If you do this, make sure to rinse and spit with salt water after wards. Basic oral hygiene applies too, you want your teeth clean, floss, and use a mild tasting (so you don't burn your irritated throat tissues) antiseptic mouthwash at the end so your gums etc don't pick up the infection.

Also avoid sugary stuff and chewing gum or mints which feeds the infection. Basically you don't want anything in your mouth for very long to sit there and either feed the infection or irritate your throat.

Also, you know this...no kissing and no intimate activities involving YOUR mouth until this goes away.

give the meds sometime to work -- 10 days are the norm for antibiotics. If you don't feel better after that def call the dr again. Try ibuprofen for fevers. Hope you Feel Better!

I just had it, it took 4 days, but was crazy that it changed so dramatically. Felt awful night 3 on antibiotics, woke up the next morning and felt great.

strep takes awhile to clear up, take all your medication on schedule and it will go away, don''t stop taking it when you feel better, many people do that and it just makes supergerms that are immune to antibiotics.
