I had a bad case of it last night...What should I eat tonight that won't trigger it?

I suffer from it severely, on a daily basis. I love spicy foods and can still eat them. However, if that is what triggers it, you need to eat at least 4 hours before bedtime and make sure you are taking a good med such as Nexium. Other than that, just stay with bland foods and drink a lot of water. As long as you pay attention to what you are eating, you can control the symptoms. Also, try sleeping with your head elevated. This will keep the acid from entering your esophagus.

You do seem in good cheer, I will say that. I have the same problem because of the medicines I take for my Lupus sle condition (cellcept, prednisone). They cause acid reflux and IBS which are uncomfortable and aggravating. I know dairy may be a problem for you, but I drink milk, eat string cheese, saltines, chicken noodle soup, minestrone, and whole wheat breads. Good luck sweetie!

Take digestive enzymes along with each meal and you will not experience acid reflux. You can purchase them at your local health food store. One 270 tablet bottle of digestive enzymes will cost about $20 and last about 3 months (one tablet with each meal).

Your body produces digestive enzymes to digest the foods you eat. As you get older, however, your body produces less of those enzymes. Also, natural foods contain digestive enzymes to help you digest them. Processed foods often have most of the digestive enzymes processed out of them.

When your body doesn't have enough digestive enzymes to digest the foods you eat then it produces MORE acid, which leads to acid reflux. If you add digestive enzymes then your body can digest your food without making more acid.

It is different for everyone. It would help if you could keep a food diary of what you eat, and see what your triggers are. You can start with what you ate last night that you had a bad reaction to. Good luck.
