...taking out the single cd stereo, would it be easy enough to put in the 6 cd changer ford factory stereo?

There are no holes on the sides of the stereo. So the Ford din tools would not work.

If you are replacing a factory ford stereo, why would you pay twice (at least) the price for another ugly ford unit?!? Get a brand name changer from Pioneer, Sony, Panasonic that looks good, plays great, and doesn't have to be replaced regularly. Just a thought...
BTW, large electronics stores usually have free installation if you buy from them.

Start by removing the top panel of your center console.

1. Remove 2 screws under rear portion of center console lid.
2. Remove 2 10mm nuts located under carpet in center console.
3. Pull down the shift knob boot; unscrew and remove the shift knob.
4. Carefully unsnap two clips located on front corners of center console and lift away.

Next, remove the panel surrounding the radio.

1. Carefully pry off the two trim panels on each side of the radio and dash bezel.
2. Remove the 6 screws that hold on the dash panel; pull the panel away and unclip the wire harnesses at the backs of the switches.
3. The radio unit is held in with 4 screws. Remove them and pull the radio out.

i've never worked on a 05 mustang but i would guess there is a factory platic trim that needs to be removed first. You can normally pull the trim off with your hands. If not try a flat head screw driver. after the trim is off you will probably see some kind of fasteners ie screws or hex screws. Then it slides out from there.

hope that helps.

take a coat hanger and decrease 2 peices aprox. 4 to 6 inches bend them right into a U and slide them into the holes you will could play with it for a couple of minutes to get it out whether it is extremely straight forward. I actually are starting to be to be rid of numerous of them in this form.
