I did a little searching and it seems that in order to be a province nominee, you must have a skill that the province has identified as an area where there is a shortage of local skilled workers. Each province has it's own criteria. Alberta is cattle country, but there isn't usually a shortage of people that ranch. Saskatchewan is wheat country and I don't know if there is a shortage of farm workers. The bottom line is that you have to have a job offer. About 20 years ago, I know that families immigrated under some rule that allowed for investment as a criteria to immigrate (check Ontario) but I don't know if that has changed.

Alberta has a huge shortage of people in the building and construction trades. BC also has shortages. In fact, both provinces have a shortage in skilled trade workers and are looking to bring people from Eastern Europe.

Why not apply as a graduate student to one of the Universities and work into the population that way ... get married or something like that. If one person marries a Canadian, the whole family can be sponsored into the country. I don't mean to sound crass, but if you have a beautiful sister, she should come to Canada to study at one of the Universities and see where her life takes her. It wouldn't be the first time that a beautiful daughter married a Canadian citizen to give her family the opportunity to immigrate.

Did some research and found out that going through the official site of Canada Immigration though easy to navigate confusion and the amount of information can be overwhelming. But I found a site with good and simple answers including this. “Quickest Way to Immigrate to Canada” Now how quick is quick or how fast that is fast all depends but they also have an e-book on the subject entitled “My Immigration Consultant” and it seam professional enough to get me to dig deeper as I want to immigrate myself to Canada. Went ahead and purchased the book, Downloaded in 2 minutes (slow connection) and start reading. It’s been only 2 hours since download so I need to properly evaluate my purchase but so far seam to be my kind of book as it is written in a simple language and well structured. I hope this helps you and the book helps me. Will see you in Canada.
The site is called immigrationtocanada and the article is here: http://www.immigrationtocanada.ws/Quickest_Way_to_Immigrate_to_Canada.html

Buy not cutting any corners on the proper paperwork. Don't try to do an end run on something. Don't lie to the Canadian Border Service people.

If you go to the Canadian website you will see that they basically have a merit system. You claim points based on age, education, linguistic ability, employment, and other factors. I think if you can claim 70 points you can just submit an application to immigrate.

Job offer would probably help, but you should check with the Canadian Consulate. Sometimes the employer must prove that the position cannot be filled by a Canadian citizen.

Re: marriage, that would work, but it would be nicer to marry a lovely Canadian woman.
