We're getting married in May, and we're planning on doing the dollar dance. I've been to many weddings where its done. Some traditions explain that the money is supposed to be pinned to both the bride & groom, but I'd prefer a basket or a pretty bag instead of having people come at me with pins......

be careful on how you solicit for money.....it can be tacky if not done properly.

Chose one of the standard $$$ dances.....either the dollar dance where every one who wishes to dance with the bride and groom puts money in a basket or some couples pin the money to the couple. To do more than one thing to solicit money from your guests is just really bad etiquette.

Another way to 'help' with getting $$$ instead of gifts....don't register anywhere.......most people send their good wishes in an envelope with some $$$, so just don't seem so pushy and you should be fine. Remember this is about marrying your sweetheart, not financing your shindig.

well i had never seen this before i moved up north, but people here do a "dollar" dance. where guests line up to dance with the bride or groom, and they have to pay a dollar for their dance. I will admit, they don't usually get to dance an entire song, but about 2-3 minutes and change partners. You make some cash. I don't know that i agree with it totally, but what ever. Traditions are different everywhere.

Here's a couple of ideas:

*** Dollar Dance (Song: If I Had A Million Dollars by BareNaked Ladies)

*** Money Tree

*** Request for no gifts...most people will then bring a card w/money

Dollar dance. Money tree. Or how about a sign, "Stranded, hungry, and out of work. Pleze help." You have to make sure you spell some words wrong and write a few letters backwards. Good luck. Hope you make big bucks!!!

Plan a long engagement and put money away in CD's that earn you interest. Oh and of course get a job if you don't have one already.
