It depends on how much you eat and what you put on the chicken and the salad. You want to stay away from rich dressings, oils, and fried food. Drinking water instead of soda is a good step in the right direction. I lost weight by drinking a lot of tea and cutting out junk food. You should also try to get some exercise in, to help boost your metabolism and make you burn more calories (muscle burns more calories than fat). Don't try to lose it all in a hurry- losing 1-2 pounds a week after the first week is a good pace. Good luck!

Yeah! That sounds like a great plan, esp. the cutting out fast foods and soda. Switching your drinks to water is one of the best habits you can do for yourself.

Chicken should be grilled, and salads should have low fat or nonfat dressing, and watch the "extras" like too much cheese.

Exercise is also good, make sure you have fun!

Remember 1-2 lbs. per week is typical for weight loss.

Can't hurt, also, try not eating anything after 6 pm. You may have to do this gradually by beginning with a later time and stopping consumption progressively earlier as you get used to it. Some (but not too much) water and low or no caffeine teas may be especially helpful after 6pm. You will sleep better, awake feeling good, and hungry, ready to eat a substantial breakfast. Try to eat most in the morning and less and less as the day progresses. Most people do the opposite. That's part of why they are overweight!

Probably, thought not overnight if that's what you're looking for. Cutting out fast food and soda is always good. And grill the chicken or broil it. Avoid frying. And when you make a salad, use lowfat dressing not that creamy crap. and lay off the crutons and boiled eggs, etc. In fact, I just squeeze a lemon on top of my salad.

I have read that if we all stopped drinking sodas altogether, without making any other changes, within a year we would be cutting enough sugar and calories to lose 30 pounds. So if you cut out other junk and exercise too, yeah you can do it.

Good plan, but don't forget pasta, rice and potatoes which are loaded with starches...which turn into sugar...which adds to the weight problem. And don't forget exercising. Even a good walk is good. And stay away from processed sugars. There are lots of good sugar free foods in the diet/health isles, including chocolate. Chocolate itself is not fattening, its the sugar in it. In fact a serving of chocolate has more antioxidants than 2 cups of green tea. Good eating.

If you eat fewer calories than you burn each day, you will lose weight. Aim for 1500 calories a day and exercise some every day.
