Since you are not easily offended, here how I feel about you and the rest of the morons here who will actually confuse or compare a dog's life to that of a human. You are in need of serious medical attention. If you think that the dog is more important the a human there is something seriously wrong with you. I love my dogs and have a lot of respect for them, but, I would never, ever put them on the same level as that of my children or another human. If it came down to it where I had to make a choice, guess what, the dogs would be gone in a nano-second. That is what is wrong here today, people are so detached from the humans around them that they would rather be with a dog then enjoy the company of a fellow human. And please don't give me any of that crap that the dog does not argue with you or hurt your feelings, THEY CANNOT, they are not human. Some people here need to grow up and realize the difference between an animal and a human being.

No you are not a weirdo. You feel for that dog because he/she doesn't understand and probably in some way you may feel a little guilty for putting him/her through the operation(even if it is in their best interests). Don't worry. all will be fine

I agree with Digory. I had to put my dog down a year ago and it was very traumatizing but he wasn't a human. Dogs make it easy to love them because they never question what you say or challange you on what you think - they can't because they aren't human. Too many people love their dogs more than humans because they can't disagree with you - therefore you're always right! What a easy life it would be if no one disagreed with each other.

No Iam a veterinary nurse and you'll be suprised how often people cry when leaving there baby behind. There's extra precautions that you can take b4 to take him/her in for surgery ask for pre-op bloods (check the liver/kidneys are workin ok) and ask them to use propofol anaesthetic as it is rapidly filtered out of the system (used in kids). This'll cost more but its worth the money. I am the same with my pet, my westie milly is due to be spayed and although i know the risks a really low i am gonna be panicking all day.

You are not a 'weirdo' in my opinion. Dogs are very easy to care for/about and become emotionally attached to. And, although my lab 'talks' to me and can be pretty complicated at times, I believe that the majority of people will always be much more complicated than dogs. That being said, it is more difficult to form a relationship based purely on trust and love with a person. Not to mention dependance and discipline....:)

No. I love my dog and worried about her when she's had a couple of operations. Also she's your best friend so what's wrong in that.

No, you are not, you are just a nice person and a dog lover. People can express their feelings and then we can help them. Dog's can not express themselves so we worry much more as we don't know what's going on inside them.

Your worries are normal to me and show your love for animals.

Of course not. There are some people who think of dogs as just pets, but others think of them as family members. We treat our dog like our kid. We take him to the vet at the first sign of illness and tuck him into his crate just like we would our kids into bed every night. We would do everything we could to give our dog a long and happy life and it sounds liek you feel the same! The fact that you care so much about your dog just shows how good of a person you are. I hope your dog gives you all of the love you give him!!
