According to Alan Greenspan, Federal Reserve Board Chairman, congressional testimony, July 2001, "undocumented workers contribute more than their fair share to our great country". He continued to inform Congress that immigrants, including undocumented workers, in essence donate $27 billion to state and local economies.
This is the difference between what they pay in taxes $70 billion and what they use in services $43 billion. Greenspan also testified that in Illinois alone "Illegal workers pay $547 million in taxes yearly, compared to $238 million in services used." This is a net "profit" for Illinois of $309 million.

Many towns would become ghost towns, the economy would plunge for them, because they are the producers and consumers on those areas.

We would need to import all of our food, very risky, because we will depend on other countries.

The services sector that has kept the economy booming after most of the industry went out of the country, would find itself without workers.

What "profits" to the local economies? Illegal aliens are a complete DRAIN on our economy. We don't profit from anything the illegal aliens do.

If Greenspan actually said this and it isn't taken out of context, he is an idiot! $27 billion into the economy? Well in CA alone the illegal alien criminals are EXTRACTING $10 billion PER YEAR. That's hard dollars and it doesn't include things like added crime, disease, drug problems and many other things. Teachers can't teach their kids becasue they have to spend more time with the non-English speaking kids. ERs are closing becasue they can't afford to absorb the costs of the ILLEGALS coming in for a cold. Diseases that were gone in America due to immunizations are coming back. Drugs and crime are pouring over the border.

AND, THEY DON'T PAY TAXES!!! Don't pull that one!How can you file a tax return and pay taxes if you don't have a SS#? IF they filed are return, not only would they get everything back but there is a little thing called "earned income tax credit" that is paid to low income people. That means they get FREE money.

Your arguments, and your quote, are full of holes!!!

It would be mild and temporary. But the benefits would be noticeable and long lasting. People fighting for scraps at the bottom would have less unfair competition and a better chance at earning a living which would contribute to the economy legally. There'd be higher quality in food handling. People who hire citizens would have more incentives to higher a wider variety of citizens like light duty, split shift, part timers etc who would work if they could get hired. These are people currently on aid, being supported by overwhelmed family members, sick and untreated in county hospitals until it's life threatening and inoperable. You know? The forgotton bottom of America would suddenly become visible. Employers would have more incentive to pay a living wage, give raises and benefits to adult workers. They'd also feel better about themselves, their employees and their country. Newly employed Americans would feel good about being able to make some sort of contribution by getting a job that they previously couldn't get because a Mexican could run circles around them or for some reason that job classification became inexplicably "Mexican" (dishwashing, fruit picking, gardening, housekeeping, babysitting, etc.). There'd be more people paying taxes and less people on welfare and disability and unemployment. Because while some illegals are able to get these benefits, it's difficult to get the cash benefits. So while they can work our jobs under the table, they force many would be workers onto assistance programs. Once these under the table jobs go above board they can hire Americans off the cash programs or subsidies and reduce the subsidies because they are able to at least partially subsidize themselves.

Alan Greenspan is full of CR*P, its just a ploy to justify the illegal alien existence in this Country. I live in Illinois and Cook County Hospital alone is over $300 million in debt, they are currently firing Doctors and Nurses and closing Specialty Clinics, hundreds of employees are being laid off every month. County clinics are being closed down all over Cook County. Our Governor just announced a major tax increase. There are no profits for the State of Illinois, and we won't see any until all these illegals go back to their homelands.
Trust me we don't need nor do we want the illegals here in Illinois, we will do better without them. We cannot handle the economic strain the illegals have burdened our economy with.
Like I said Greenspan is full of CR*P!
The real truth will come once all these illegals flee from our Country in fear being separated from their children when ICE finally catches up to them.

Greenspan speaks for fat cat CEO's who are addicted to cheap labor.

The media promotes a positive view of illegal aliens because it is owned by a small group of corporations. Those corporations survive on the advertising dollars of big business.

It's a play on your "fear of loss". Marketers and advertisers know that if they can scare you into believing you'll lose your job if "X" happens, they'll get you to support their position.

Ever wonder why you hear conflicting news stories about how some vitamin or food is good for you ... then months later you hear another story saying how that vitamin or food won't help you or is even bad for you? It's all PR put out by dueling companies that compete against each other.

All some executive has to do is write a check for $25k to a PR firm and that firm will create a campaign that's so persuasive, it could almost make you believe anything.

I'll take any supposed economic fallout to have my country back. Our laws enforced and respected. English spoken. Our tax dollars going for our CITIZENS! Education back to what's worked instead of this bi-lingual do-da and "special" services for people who don't love this country or want to be a part of it.

We'll save on all the welfare benefits they are so savvy about obtaining, and all the law enforcement and corrections resourses and expences freed up.

The only "benefit" of illegal immigration is to the pockets of the unscrupulous and criminal behavior of the employers who hire them. Modern day slavery, plain and simple.
