I went to NYC last spring, and it was pretty cool. Go to:
*** = my favorites

1. Empire State Building***
2. Statue of Liberty
3. Central Park
4. Chinatown ***
5. Broadway Show
6. World Trade Center location

TAKE A CAMERA WITH YOU !!!!
- Lots of awesome photos from the top of the empire building
- Chinatown is really cool !!!

In my opinion, you could go to Ellis Island too, but I didn't find it fun or really that interesting.

what isn't great to do in NYC? I moved here from Iowa 4 years ago- here are some of my favorites- Times Square (best after dark), Battery Park-down by the statue of liberty take the ferry you'll get to see the statue and elis island, plus battery park has some of the best knock off pocket books in the city (other than canal street), Little Italy-best at lunch time or a late diner-just pick a place, you can't go wrong the food is out of this world- try the penne ala vodka or a good alfrado you can't go wrong with either, Wondering around central park-the zoo is a kick, The Guggenheim museum, The Met museum, take in a ball game in the spring- there's nothing like Yankee's stadium in May, Coney Island & Nathan's hot dogs, there's always a show on broadway- buy your tickets at the 1/2 price booth it's always 2 for one, get there early don't do it on a weekend day! That's about all I've got....those are my favorites...there's always something to see and keep your eye out for the naked cowboy he's usually around time square if the weather is nice otherwise he's in penn station where it's warmer....enjoy!!

Definitely go to Times Square, Central Park, Madam Tussauds, The Met, Chinatown/Little Italy (My personal favs), South Street Seaport, 5th Ave, Radio City Music Hall, Dylans Candy Store, Bloomingdales, Saks 5th Ave, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, The Village LOL there are so many other places I can't even tell you! But i hope you have fun and get to see as much as possible. But Times Square is a big tourist spot and you'll get to see a lot even there.

I live in the Murray Hill area of Manhattan- You are in for a treat. I love living here. Everyone's mentioned a lot of good places- I would be sure to purchase a "Time Out New York" magazine for the week that you're in town. They can recommend shows, comedy, music, club events, films, etc that are available that week. For your 25th you're going to want to see some nightlife, too. :) Enjoy! I hope you love NYC!
