I find it to be so. A person can be a racist and can hate someone because of that, but if the hated person is rich, there's really nothing the hater can say that would really even matter. Money is power. What do you think?

Tabitha-You're really annoyed that a black person could have the type of money I do. I don't really care what you doubt. Seriously. You're not important to me or my life. Yes, I am well off. I put myself through college and now I'm reaping the benefits. Maybe you shouldgo to college. And yes I drive a Mercedes and I bought it myself. That kills you doesn't it? You're pathetic, not me. If you really saw the person you are talking to, you'd smack yourself silly. I could take your man, too. So watch your mouth.

Matt-I'm one of the finest black women around. Men like you are bumbling idiots around me. Get a life, white boy.

Direktor-Just speaking from my own personal experiences. It might also have something to do with my looks. It seems that society places great power in beauty, and if you've got money..well..you're just ahead of the game. But that's just my opinion.

I agree. Actually I think they're closely related. Some people may associate race with class, when classism is their real problem - be it because of fear of being robbed, or resentment of those who have more.

And as you pointed out, someone who is already in an advantageous position has much less to fear from racism than than someone poor.

The power of each of these ism's are defined by the culture that they are found in. In the US, we despise anything that smacks of Marxism, so discussions of class are very rare. We have this idea that this is a meritocracy when in fact it is not. If you are not born with options, it is difficult if not impossible to obtain them.

On the other hand, in countries like Brazil, the discussion is about class and never race. discussions about race are illegal. Brazil's independence from colonization hinged on a "race-less ideology" which is still in force today. All this did was remove race as a factor in discussions about poverty and crime, but you will be hard pressed to find a member of the working class that isn't dark skinned.

The farther one moves up the class ladder, the more powerful they'll become.

So you're right.

On the other hand, class does not determine one's level of ignorance. A rich person could be the hater in other words.
HOWEVER, most higher class folks are usually educated more so than their lower class counterparts so ingorance is not as expressed.

You can do nothing about the color of your skin...I would say no..... EDIT:whether it bothers you or not is not the issue....the fact that it's THERE is the issue! How much money someone has and whether they are disriminated against has NOTHING to do with one another! If you think all you need to do is have money to avoid being treated differently..you are dead wrong!
