So you know when you go to open a file from, say, Excel (although it happens in all programs), Windows brings up a screen that lets you brose for the file you want...

Well on mine, the files that are displayed are in reverse alphabetical order, and I cannot figure out how to get them back to regular...

Any ideas?

NOTE: I am NOT talking about windows explorer... I'm talking about the Open / Save / etc dialogues..

yes - go to 'file', then 'open', in the middle of the box right click and choose 'arrange files by' and then select 'name'.

Voila!

The top right icon in the Open dialog (which looks like a little window with an arrow beside it) lets you select which type of view you want.

As far as I know, the only option that lets you sort by reverse alphabetical order is "Detail".

In Detail mode there is a bar at the top of the file viewer that describes what is in each column.

Click the column heading you want to sort by. Click it again to reverse the order.

The FileOpen/Save dialogs are using components of windows explorer, you should be able to right click in the file list windows, choose details or list, then click the column headers to change the alphabetical order. Or, from explorer, you can customize a folder the way you want it (alphabetical descending) and then set it as the default.

when you go to open the file, click in a white area where no files are. There should be a "arrange icons by" and it will give you a few options, choose by name and it will sort them by name

If you repeat the process it will go in reverse

It doesn't display them according to what letters they contain. They are displayed in the order they were opened.
