I got snakebites with captives 2 years ago and i love them but they kept getting irrated so about a year ago i switched to labret studs and they got better (new piercing shop also) and about a week ago i had the rings put back in and the left one is irrated again. I am wandering if it is that the captives from the old shop might be just shitty jewlery or i just dont do good with captives. I really wanna keep the captives for the whole snakebite look.

If the irritation has started again with the CBRs then yes, it might be the jewelry. It could be that it's inferior quality, the size is incorrect or just too much movement.

You could also be experiencing some irritation just from changing the jewelry. Was it difficult to get the ring in?

Check with the shop to see if the size is correct, and try new CBRs if you want rings, or just leave the labret posts in

It sounds like the jewelry is the problem. if they are made out of the same metal as the labrets and it's not just something like you're allergic to the metal, it is possible that the old ones were just junk. a whole lot of jewelry comes from overseas and many places don't test for quality in what they sell. this is a little stupid because the difference in cost between a company that bothers to test and one that doesn't is only a few cents per piece. i would suggest getting another pair of captives and trying again, we sell them really cheap. if they give you problems then it's definately the captive concept that you have trouble with, not the jewelry.
